FEMA did everything right, but the locals and state didn't do anything. He's talking like the mayor and governor went on vacation until Sunday before the hurricane.

because LA evacuated 80% of its residents, which apparently is very high, before Sunday. The normal rate is 60%.
Brownie is a whining, arrogant POS, which makes him perfect for this criminal administration.
Why is only LA under investigation? Mississippi didn't get all of its residents out either and no one seems to know how many people died in that state. Certainly no one I have heard from Mississippi is particularly happy with Fema. Many still saying they have not received any assistance from the Federal Govt. four weeks later.
The man is joke ~ although a very tragic one, along with Chertoff (why is he still head of Homeland Security?).

9. I think this "hearing" will backfire explosively on the Republicans. |
|
It really looks like an excercise in CYA and blame the victims and the Democratic governor and mayor of LA and NO. But everyone knows that MS, AL, and now TX are to this very day still having problems with FEMA and the Feds under this Bush administration. And no one, least of all the Republicans, can should be able to stand not facing up to responsibility...isn't that their gripe with libs anyway. I think the big difference between libs and conservatives is that libs like to blame the authorities in power while the conservatives like to blame the victims who have no power.

This house hearing is supplying meat for further investigations, the repubs have made a big error in doing this in this way, imo, and the house dems are right to boycott this one and let the repubs and Brownie dig their hole deeper.

"Oh no, I'm not." The truth, at last, from this steaming pile of horseshit named (appropriately, I may add) Brown. And after that initial softening-up, the Democrat Taylor is going for his throat about the radios. "We don't have enough of them to cover an area the size of Great Britain." "How many MREs did you have in position?" "We had 14 trailerloads." "How many are on a trailerload?" Nail him, Gene!

69. Brown said that at the beginning of his statement, too. Individuals |
|
are supposed to prepare themselves for emergencies. Local and state governments have responsibility after that. And if there's still any federal responsibility left after that, I'm sure Brown or whichever of *'s cronies replaces him will try to weasel out of it.
Brown sounded genuinely indignant about individuals not taking more responsibility. How dare those people expect FEMA to do anything for them!
