PLEASE!!! NO!!!!!
Those of us who live here are already suffering enough. A boycott is the last thing we need. The vast majority of Californians had nothing to do with this lame-ass recall. Please don't punish US for this right-wing grab.
Boycott Republicans!

As more of Arnold's womanizing comes out and he becomes a Republican Bill Clinton, lets just recall him.. Out of staters could help us out financially. It will be fun protesting the Freaky, Pig should he steal the governorship. His connections with Enron come clearer and his call for privitatization- lets just recall him. Are we up to it.

be protected by a magic force field - I would be all for that. But we need to say no to fascism. We need to let these pigs know they can not get away with this. If the vast majority of Califorians had no part in this than lets hope they get off their ass tonight - if not I will see no Hollywood film and aviod anything that could help California. I encouage others to join me, hit em were it hurts-I boycott my own state btw, when ever possible. I hope things get way worse in your state and the USA as well-only way we can get rid of this crowd is a good slap upside the head on all of America. I consider what I said very patriotic-it is for the good of America's future.

I agree that we should not punish the PEOPLE of California. We are going to hell in a handbasket QUICKLY if we start boycotting states because we don't like their governor. I HATE what has happened with Arnie (ugh!), but we can't say he is NOT the governor! The constitution of the state of California allows for recalling officials. I disagree with many here in thinking that is actually VERY democratic - to the core. Imagine if we had never heard of such an idea and somebody proposed giving the PEOPLE - through signatures - the opportunity to call a governor home. My guess is most Democrats would say, "That's the definition of an activist democracy."
I don't like what has happened. However, it was LEGAL, it was DEMOCRATIC (whether we like the results or not), and doesn't make elections any less legitimate. It only gives the people a RECOURSE. If this was going the other way - against Bush - and there was a recall provision in the United States constitution, we would be ecstatic that there was a way to send the crook packing.
We need MORE democracy - not less. Allow me my viewpoint - I honestly believe the recall was a democratic exercise. Though I am disgusted with the results. I agree --- boycott Republicans, NOT California.
ON EDIT: Jerry Brown was just on TV agreeing that the recall itself is a democratic ideal. He said the whole idea is radical against the two-party system and allows for the uprising against the hegemony of the powerful.

36. Arnold ran what looked like an independent campaign |
|
but his campaign was filled with GOP hacks from previous campaigns. All that was needed for this recall was a few thousand bucks, and 60 signatures.
The people of CA have lost all respect from me and if this is any indication of how they may vote in '04, they deserve the fact that their tech jobs are being outsourced to other countries (well ok, they deserve it anyways because of this vote). Fuck your state. I put it in the same class as some right wing bible belt state. The people are just as stupid.

27. The vast majority of California is responsible for Arnie winning |
|
if he wins. Period.
40% chose not to go and vote against the recall. If Arnie becomes governor, that means a majority of the State wanted Davis out or just plain didn't give a shit.
So if Arnie gets in, I no longer give a shit about California, so much so that not a penny of my money will supprt the fucked up state.

I look forward to a recall.. Califronia's sexual harrassment laws, he should be impeached over recalled, if the state allows. Meanwhile, lets let the world know, not all Californian's are robots... The day The Schwarznazi steals the governorship, lets plan on a great welcome party.. Signs stating Steroid Freak, molester, Pig.. This could be fun. I had thought Reagan on alzheimer's all those years ago was our shame. A steoroid freak and outright neo Nazi, this is worse. Challenge him from day one.. Don't let him become accepted by guillible people.

As others have said, punishing the ordinary folk of CA will not help matters at all...
I am just as disgusted as you are about this farce of an election, and like you I want to strike out at something, but this is the wrong thing to do.
I purchase goods over the web from a couple of small businesses in CA and I won't stop because of that lunkhead Ahhhnold...
I figure that if Ahhhnold is bad enough (and I think he is) he will go out just as quickly as he came in.
