2. It is my understanding that he will have to give up his leadership |
position if he is indicted for the period of the trial. If he is acquitted (God forbid), he could come back to be leader. According to the article on LBN, if Hastert appoints someone to fill his position, and he comes back, there could be a fight over the position (oh joy). Hastert could fill the leadership role temporarily. According to the article, there was much repug discussion over this yesterday.

pretty much on top of things but I am out of the loop on this. I knew Delay was in "trouble" but possibly indicted tomorrow? Really?

here is the link to the LBN thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1810248&mesg_id=1810248I am not sure if the GJ has to indict tomorrow, or if they can sit on the indictments, or if there will be any indictments. Just the possibility has a produced a tine sliver of joy for me.

5. Whereas the possibility that DeLay will be indicted ALMOST leads |
me to believe there's still some justice left in this country, I somehow doubt that it will go anywhere. Just like I don't see KKKarl getting his oh-so-very-just desserts, or the Abu Graid photos getting released.
It's gonna take a lot more events like last Saturday, a lot more soul searching by the American media (right, that'll happen), and a lot more people waking up to the reality of who/what is the real danger to our country, namely the bush** administration.
