2. Nazis
I am Jewish, and I resent seeing the term "Nazi" applied to Republicans. Nazis ran extermination camps. Yeah, Arnold has a German accent and made Terminator movies.

Surely there are other perjorative terms to use, if we really think that's a useful way to proceed.

3. The ARE the American equivalent of Nazis.
Bush's grandfather was a fascist who wanted the exat opposite government FDR wanted. They liked Hitler. Arnold likes Hitler, and his father was a Nazi.

I'm couching reality here: we are headed towards fascism in America. It's coming faster than you think.

11. I agree. I'm tired of this. Why do we have to wait until
people are rounded up in camps, millions of people die, and Bush invades the world before we can use the word Nazis?

13. I agree.
It's just plain intellectually lazy to equate Nazis with ONLY the Holocaust. The death camps were the CULMINATION, how the hell do people think things GOT that far?

Did the voters for Hitler's National Socialist party vote on a platform of forced labor and gas chambers? Of course not. The Jews weren't even the first targets in the beginning stages of the Nazi program, the communists were.

I say, call a spade a spade. These people are direct descendents of Goebbels and Goering et al. They're using the same damn playbook.

Resist the beginnings. Consider the end.

4. What...?
The repukes are as right-wing as they can get. They're not wearing little armbands...yet...but these people can trace their roots back to the goose-stepping assholes that started WWII.
Not only does idiot George's family have ties to the Nazis...but Ahnuld as well.

You keep your head in the sand...you just go ahead and do that...

5. I'm Jewish and I have no problem with calling Busheviks what they are
Would you feel better if we called them "kinder and gentler" Nazis?

Or if we qualified our statements that, while they use Nazi-style propaganda strategies, they are not nearly as violent and, it seems for the moment, more interested in looting than in brutality?

Would that be better? Because these statements are true.

Does that make it better?

And yes, Prescott Bush sat on the board of Union Banking Corp., which helped launder Hitler's money. UBC did not even divest after Pearl Harbor, but were forced to in 1942 by the Trading With the Enemy Act.

Look it up and see if I'm lying.

12. No disagreement here but don't give up.
As Mussolini stated fascism is the merger of state and corporate power and that is precisely what you are seeing with this extremist crew. However what would cause FDR to really roll over in his grave is to allow the puppeteering bastards pulling his strings to win. Now that Der Schweinfuhrer has slithered his way to victory you can be sure that the Bushies will use him to further their extremist agenda. Look for efforts to allow Enron to escape liability for cost overruns to be blessed by this yahoo and for things such as repealing fuel efficiency standards and offshore drilling. This is not to mention the damage to people that will be inflicted by his draconian budget cuts. Thus keep in mind he is not God despite his egomaniacal delusions to the contrary. We still control the state legislature and every office of state government. At every turn of the page when he trots out his Bushian crap we expose it and block it.

Also as the Attorney General stated the sexual allegations against him are serious enough to warrant further inquiry.
The fight has only just begun.

10. Okay, how about "fascist"?
Check this out:

London Times: The fascist spectre that stands behind Arnie

see this post in the Editorials forum

<snip>

IF a politician campaigns on the theme of “trust me”, there is only one correct answer, and that is “not on your life”. Tony Blair has entered the inter-governmental conference on the European constitution saying “trust me”. A more immediate issue is that Arnold Schwarzenegger is asking the people of California to trust him in tomorrow’s vote. They would be foolish to do so.

<snip>

What worries me is that Arnold Schwarzenegger is relying on the appeal of fascism, whether or not he is personally a fascist. He does not run on experience. He has been a politician for only eight weeks. He does not run on policy. He relies on catch phrases and on empty generalisation. He does not debate the issues. He has taken part in only one debate, and then relied on frequent references to his old films, which do not deal with economic policy issues. His campaign exists outside rationality, in the world of celebrity and sensation. The politics of mass emotion are the politics of fascism.

The core of all fascist movements is the direct relationship between the leader and the masses, not mediated through the institutions of democracy. What does the leader do? He provides leadership. What allows him to provide leadership? The strength of his will. What is the evidence of the leader’s will? The exciting feeling he creates of ultimate ruthlessness. How does Arnold Schwarzenegger demonstrate this ruthlessness? By having played a machine — not even a man — which killed hundreds of people.

Gray Davis has not been a good governor. One can understand that the people of California want to get rid of him. But, though he may be a ghastly hack, he was democratically elected after a process of public debate, and Democrat majorities in both Houses of the California Congress were elected alongside him. This is now a straight conflict between the democratic principle and the Führer Prinzip (leadership principle), the issue of 1933.

(The London Times is subscription only, unfortunately)

9. Sorry. There's nothing nice
about these guys. Look closely at some of the photos that are posted here. Look at their eyes, in particular.

There is not much these people wouldn't do to further their agenda. If you haven't seen the changes that have taken place, it's because it's happened very slowly, very subtly.

You really need to be out of the US to see what has happened. Try traveling to Europe, or even Canada to see the difference. We have lost a lot of our freedoms these last 3 years.
