Dear Old Dad Post 2: Another juicy tidbit from a RW father
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 08:18 AM by greekspeak
I posted last night about a meme my father is spreading, in a nutshell that liberals in louisiana took fed money earmarked for the Corp of engineers and the levees and frittered it away. Here is another gem from the same phone conversation.

I mentioned that Shrubby eagerly signed the recent pork laden transportation bill, complete with the Senator Stevens Memorial Pork Bridge to Nowhere. And do you know what he said?

HE HAD TO SIGN IT QUICK TO STOP THE LIBERALS FROM FILLING IT WITH EVEN MORE PORK!

Do they put wormwood oil in the kool-aid? The RWers (Dad included) are REALLY starting to get irrational.

Edit: A PORK bridge, not a PROK bridge. Thanks unhappycamper!

3. People who spread this crap
Have no idea how government works, or of the legislative process. When a bill goes to the President for signature (or veto), it's a finished product.

5. I explained this to him
He has listened to RW hate radio as long as it has existed. He has grown to the point where rationality is gone. Simply gone. If they said that the Clinis was going to piss on the sun and extinguish it, he would believe it. I kid you not.

4. of course the democrats don't get to write the bills anymore
repubs do it in secret - locking dems out - so all that pork.... mostly repub pork with some throw aways to dems as bribes for votes.

7. Also, apparently, they let some dems add pork so they can be scapegoats

6. RW'ers can justify anything
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 08:10 AM by AussieDave
it's the old Vietnam War argument - "we had to destroy the village in order to save it".

I have cousins in Texas who are the same - no amount of proof otherwise will dissuade them from their "truth".

Sad sad sad - things can only get better, but when ???

8. Step 1: Replace the cheating voting apparatuses
Nothing will change until that happens.

9. Followed by running Dems EVERYWHERE
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 08:23 AM by AussieDave
no matter how hopeless it may seem, Dems have to be competitive and run in every district - no more "unopposed" districts.

10. That is a great step two
Throwing districts away should not be a Dem political practice.

11. Seems Core of Engineers in 1995 dumped on the construction
firm that was hired for firming up the levee because the firm said the levee was not strong enough to be reinforced.

Finding that info out cost $30 million and when the firm asked the Core for that Money the Core of Engineers drove them out of business via a Court victor that said they owed no money. Lisa Myers on NBC had the story the other night.
