"The truth is, they are a white Christian party. They don't welcome and embrace diversity." - Howard Dean
"But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down." - Bill Bennett
Another statement from Howard Dean, attacked and then vindicated.

4. Does this indict the entire Republican party? |
|
I would not want the statements of one wild-card democrat used to demonize our entire group. Should we show the maturity not to do the same?

I meant in general. If someone says something stupid -- anyone, then I wouldn't want to demonize an entire group for that. Left, right, center, that's just the path to prejudice.

7. The republican party indicts itself routinely. This comment is just |
|
one more slice of that giant pie that is made from the comments and deeds of the GOP.
For reference see Barbara Bush's comments on Katrina evacuees in the Astrodome, pretty much anything out of Rick Santorum's piehole, Sensenbrenner shutting down meetings he doesn't agree with, the policies of the Bush administration in general, and Tom DeLay's actual indictment for starters.
Welcome to DU :hi:

13. I think the larger point is |
|
that they don't think they're putting their feet in their mouths in the first place. That, to me, is 99% of the problem right there. Legitimate policy/issue debates are fine, but we can't get there from here.

The Republicans are being revealed slowly but surely and Dean is always quick to call them on their various facades.
