Yes, Bush lied

WASHINGTON – A year ago, on Oct. 1, one of the most important documents in U.S. history was published and couriered over to the White House.

The 90-page, top-secret report, drafted by the National Intelligence Council at Langley, included an executive summary for President Bush known as the "key judgments." It summed up the findings of the U.S. intelligence community regarding the threat posed by Iraq, findings the president says formed the foundation for his decision to preemptively invade Iraq without provocation. The report "was good, sound intelligence," Bush has remarked.

Most of it deals with alleged weapons of mass destruction.

But page 4 of the report, called the National Intelligence Estimate, deals with terrorism, and draws conclusions that would come as a shock to most Americans, judging from recent polls on Iraq. The CIA, Defense Intelligence Agency and the other U.S. spy agencies unanimously agreed that Baghdad:

had not sponsored past terrorist attacks against America,

was not operating in concert with al-Qaida,

and was not a terrorist threat to America.

SNIP

Impeach.

1 year ago were we in Iraq? I dont think so. Times change, information changes.

Anyways, I trust my president and the high-ups in the government to be doing the right thing and not some newspaper. Most newspapers lie, so why trust them?

You guys have to remember, this war thing isnt about republicans or democrates, its about life and peace.

4. well not really
im not a bush fan.

This has nothing to do with how feel the government should be run. This is beyond that. This is an entirely different issue.

Just because I dont agree with the ideas of Bush, (even though hes pretty democrate compared to most right people) doesnt mean I cant support Iraq. This has nothing to do with bills, laws, rights, anything like that.

5. LOL...you trust your president and the high-ups in government...
so you have no problems with Bush's private little meetings in Crawford with the Saudi prince.

You have no problem with Richard Perle's meeting with the renowned arms dealer Khashoggi.

You think it's just dandy that Dick Cheney should formulate energy policy in secret and then refuse to release any documents about it.

And it's tickety-boo to leak the name of a CIA operative to the press, then do NOTHING about it.

You're either a freeper or a fool.

7. Well, those are differnt things.
Thats politics

The other is about life. Its not about winning the vote, or getting cash. The role of the president is an honorable position. You should respect whoever is in that position.

Because of the war on terrorism the world is a little safer for americans. That is what Iraq + afganistan is about. It's not about scoring.

You layer rhetoric upon rhetoric.

You might explain how the Bush Administration has earned your trust, for example.

23. " Most newspapers lie, so why trust them?" LOL

No need to get your info from sources that lie then, right?

When you think about those "newspapers lies" consider the estimate of our bill in Iraq given by the Bush* Administration and weigh it aginst the amount Bush* has requested. Not to mention that Cheney says it isn't enough.

P.S. It isn't all newspapers. I watched this guy live. He called all these big figures "hoopla".

This is Bush appointee, Andrew Natsios, administrator of the Agency for International Development, the lead agency that is responsible for rebuilding the infrastructure of Iraq.

Nightline April 23, 2003

ANDREW NATSIOS
This is 1.7 billion.

TED KOPPEL
(Off Camera) All right, this is the first. I mean, when you talk about 1.7, you're not suggesting that the rebuilding of Iraq is gonna be done for $1.7 billion?

ANDREW NATSIOS
Well, in terms of the American taxpayers contribution, I do, this is it for the US. The rest of the rebuilding of Iraq will be done by other countries who have already made pledges, Britain, Germany, Norway, Japan, Canada, and Iraqi oil revenues, eventually in several years, when it's up and running and there's a new government that's been democratically elected, will finish the job with their own revenues. They're going to get in $20 billion a year in oil revenues. But the American part of this will be 1.7 billion. We have no plans for any further-on funding for this.

<snip>

TED KOPPEL
(Off Camera) And we're back once again with ANDREW NATSIOS, administrator for the Agency for International Development. I want to be sure that I understood you correctly. You're saying the, the top cost for the US taxpayer will be $1.7 billion. No more than that?

ANDREW NATSIOS
For the reconstruction. And then there's 700 million in the supplemental budget for humanitarian relief, which we don't competitively bid 'cause it's charities that get that money.

TED KOPPEL
(Off Camera) I understand. But as far as reconstruction goes, the American taxpayer will not be hit for more than $1.7 billion no matter how long the process takes?

ANDREW NATSIOS
That is our plan and that is our intention. And these figures, outlandish figures I've seen, I have to say, there's a little bit of hoopla involved in this.

<snip>

TED KOPPEL
(Off Camera) But what you are saying is, maybe, maybe fewer tasks will be accomplished. The amount of money, however, is gonna be the same?

ANDREW NATSIOS
That's correct. 1.7 billion is the limit on reconstruction for Iraq. It's a large amount of money but, compared to other emergencies around the world. But in terms of the amount of money needed to reconstruct the country, it's a relatively small amount.

22. Faux News really does rot your brain
And you are living proof. Let's see, where do we begin? We had a surplus when Shrub took office, we are now looking at a HUGE deficit. He has lied us into a quagmire of a war in Iraq. Yeah, there was a great plan to conquer Saddam, but it seems not much of one to deal with the aftermath of war. He gave the biggest tax cuts to other rich people like himself instead of the lower income taxpayers, which is what he promised. And now, dumbasses in his administration are leaking the name of a NOC CIA agent for some retarded reasoning that it's revenge against this person's spouse. Do you even make an effort to get your news anywhere but Faux? Geez!:eyes: :puke:

Jesus! You're the reason people are dying in other countries at the hands of our military right now - all blind obedience and junior-high cloak-and-dagger mentality.

YOU HELPED KILL OUR SOLDIERS BY BELIEVING THE TRAITOR. Think about that one while you try to sleep - or doesn't your conscience ever speak up?
