When presented with evidence that seem to contracdict their world view, people will twist the facts until they become confirmation of their perceptions.

15. Are you saying that the voters are like the ducks? |
|
Hop out of your egg and go after anyone that is there? Well could be look at the spin from the GOP right now. Did anyone think their were WMD of Iraq? How did you dream that up? Not from the DOD or Powell or Bush. I think they must think we are 4 graders. Now they are saying they never said it. And they all are saying the same thing and calling in on c-span to say it when 2 weeks age it was the other story. It is really madness.GOP will keep saying it and the nubs will go for it.Madness of the first order.

They will continue to use it when it suits them and whatever else they want, without applying the same standards to themselves or their candidates. They will do what it takes to win and nominate who can win.
And all the while the democratic party will go down in the flames of ideological purity.

8. Not Call Them on it!,... |
|
...Hammer them on it.
1 Impeach Bill Clinton because of sex; support a sexual predator 2 Slam Bill for not being in the military; have bob dole put dan quayle's name in nomination in '88, then support awol in '00 & '04. 3 Cry family values; deny a father's right to take him back to Cuba, support a sexual predator. 4 Spend 8 years demonizing an elected president; brand anyone who criticizes bush jr. as a traitor. 5 Call people who use their constitutional rights as traitors; commit treason and cover it up in an act of political retaliation. 6 Claim to bring "integrity" to the white house; preside over the most corrupt, lying and secretive administration ever. 7 State that we'll be proud of the president once again; appoint a moron to the job 8 Say you have no financial ties to the corporation you represent; continue to take paychecks from them.
These are only a few. I'm sure we can think of many others.
They only do it because they're allowed to get away with it. We need to stop expecting the whore media to wake up and start with constant word of mouth. As much as we would like civility (another rethuglican recent contradiction) to return to politics, we have to remember Ted Rall's admonition: "It's the Ferocity, Stupid!". Unfortunately, that's politics 2003-04. We have to be willing to get as mean as they do. One advantage we have is that what we charge them with is provable!

6. With the pugs it doesn't matter what you have done |
|
in your past IF YOU ARE A PUG! Because all you have to do is act contrite and say the right (scripted) words and ask forgiveness. Hey if you mention you have a relationship with Jesus...that is good for an extra million or so points!
Look how the media and pugs went after Clinton for inhaling in 1968! Bush was a coke fiend in the 1970s and 1980s and we were told that was in the past BECAUSE HE HAD A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS! That's all they have to say. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus!
The pugs will say they support "traditional" families as opposed to those evil DUers and such who do not.
PROUD TO BE AN EVIL DUer!

7. AND they will now understand how WE |
|
could elect "skirt-chasing" Clinton!! What Ahnold did to women, if true (wink) is CRIMINAL...It makes me sick to remember the impeachment and the character assassination of a wonderful President, with the Thugs claiming they were morally OUTRAGED!! THEN, thay have the NERVE to elect a NAZI, and the most morally bankrupt individual in politics that we've seen in a long time!!
Clinton comes out smelling like a ROSE today!!
And, forget about them staking a claim to "Family Values" too! Did you hear Ahnold saying how great this country has been to him? Every time, he says if it hadn't been for California, he wouldn't be famous, he wouldn't have all the money he has, and he wouldn't have his lovely wife and family, in that order. Then he repeats it, not even realizing his mixed up priorities! Every time I heard him say that, he would always say he is thankful for the MONEY before his WIFE & FAMILY!
Ok, so he won. THE REAL PROBLEM is that Rove has figured out that the Resident MUST win California in order to be re-elected (or, at least so that they don't have another Florida Supreme Court situation on their hands) That's the real reason Ahnold was elected. Now they've got 10 months to get all their rigged machines installed in the state.

They are the voters of California, a majority Democratic state. These are our people. They elected pervert Arnold, but they also elected Bill. So they are consistent in that area.
Look, I think Arnold took advantage of the protest vote. But that doesn't mean we should back down or that our rage shoud be any less. If anyting we should be even more mad. We should make new ads to run around the time of the coronation, reminding voters of the dirt we dug up on Arnold.

crawling out of the woodwork again. One thing about California, it is rotten to the core with them.
Legislature needs to recall the recall law. Not until we use it one more time 100 days from now, of course.

11. A Californian ,totally disgusted with outcome ! |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 06:47 AM by NicRic
Well the California voters just showed me their shallowness ,and Iam going back to making a point that Iam not a native Californian ! I was born and raised in Chicago, and had just started to feel that I was proud to be a Californian ! I was proud how strongly we had backed Al Gore in 2000 .Till near te end of the recall vote I held out hope that the California voters where to smart to buy into slogans ,and elect someone because of star power ! Apprently I was wrong ,Iam completly disgusted with the direction this state and this country hs taken .I say ,balls out ,start recalling every Gov in a state thats having economic probs .Would'nt that be all of them ? Also Iam disgusted that ,the people could not read the recent history of California , and realize that Davis was the victum of the previous governors misguided policies. Its Ok when the repugs blame Clinton for the bush economy ,however then when its actually true that the previous person in control is at fault ,the voters dont buy it .Eveything is up side down .Whats wrong is now right ,and whats a lie is now the truth ? I finding a hobbie ,keeping the politicial web sites out of my favorites ! No more news radio, Iam going back to music radio all the time and sit-com only T.V. Sorry ,call me a quiter ,however this is one American that is sick of politics, tired of being burned by a corrupt system , a bias media ,Asta Lavista Baby !!!!

That's a little consolation. At least for those of us who don't live in California -- if you do, you're pretty much screwed.

He's got two movies in post-production right now - will probably hit theaters next year: Around the World in 80 Days (w/ Jackie Chan, Arnold's role is a supporting one) and Joe's Last Chance (co-starring with Cedric).

16. The situation could be a lot worse... |
|
I don't think we should overreact to the significance of this on a national scale. First of all, yes, he's a "Republican". But what does that mean in this sense? He's certainly no neo-Jacobin, falsely moral, "Everything I do is OK thanks to Jesus" hypocrite, and that's the REAL problem with the Republicans in charge of the country.
What's all this about losing CA for the presidential race?? What does one have to do with the other?? Californians did not elect a Republican - they elected a movie star. His party "affiliation" has no relevance. CA still has a Democratic legislature and now a Republican-In-Name-Only governor.
We are grossly overestimating the impact that this has on a national level. It's not like Ashcroft is now the governor. If a Republican had to end up in this office, this is actually the best scenario. If he succeeds, we can point to the fact that he is not a card-carrying member of the neo-Jacobin cabal, where the REAL super-failures are. If he fails, he fails. At least no Democrat had an unfortunate airline "accident" in this whole sordid affair.
As for Californians as a whole, all I can say is 14,000 of you voted for Larry Flynt and 12,000 for Gary Coleman. That's how "serious" this matter is to Californians on the whole. The rest of this country sees this debacle as a freak show and a Republican came out as Top Freak. Hardly a blazing triumph for the Bushies.
