DeLay struggles in new role
The day after he was indicted by a Texas grand jury, Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) stood by himself at an intersection outside the Cannon office building.

Gone were the security detail, the staff and the gaggle of reporters. The former majority leader stood alone waiting for the light to change on his way to an afternoon vote.

When approached and asked what he thought of his new Cannon office, DeLay smiled and said, "It's got a great view of the Capitol."

DeLay's new - and perhaps temporary - role as a rank-and-file member is a glaring illustration of the tenuous new order within the Republican conference after the hard-charging Texan was forced to give up his leadership post.

1. I'm a little confused on one point. Did he give up his "Majority Leaders"
office. This article leads me to believe that he has been forced to move from the extravagent office he is given for being house majority leader. Another peice I read said he was keeping his office space.

God, how humiliating it would be for him to have to vacate his office.

Anyone know the whole story?

4. Early reports had him in the office
Saw that in the NYT. Later reports had his a** out of there. I think that the early reports were from DeLay's PR team.

Tom DeLay began moving out of his leadership suite in the Capitol to his smaller district office in the Cannon Building, his Republican colleagues in the House began pondering a future without "The Hammer" as majority leader.

3. "I'm also returning as majority leader."
I doubt that very much!
