What's up with Scarborough
As an American working overseas I'm curious as to what's up with Joe Scarborough. When I read Crooks and Liars I see more postings of reasonable things he's saying. The latest is this one

Sen. Erwin: Well, I think, if you look at what‘s going on, this whole region has always known that, with the church, that New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are known for sin. And if you go to a church and you read your Bible, you are always told avoid sin and that there‘s judgment for sin.

Scarborough: "All I will say is this. When you look at Matthew 25, and the disciples ask Jesus, how do we get to heaven? That‘s what they were interested in. We want to sit on the right hand of the father. How do we do it? Jesus said, you take care of the poor. You give the thirsty water. When they come to your door and they need food, you give it to them. When they need clothes, give them the clothes off your back and visit them in jail. Basically, help the dispossessed. " That‘s why I just find it hard to square up my vision of God and what Jesus Christ said in the New Testament with what the senator is saying tonight."

Has he seen the light? Or is this one of the four signs of the apocalypse?

20. Like Cymbal

Hahahaha you be meaning.

I have a most excellent excuse for the mis-spelling. Two excuses in fact.

1. I am not a good speller.

2. I served aboard a minesweeper in Korea years ago. THe 'USS Symbol AM 123. Her call name at one time was "Clang Clang". So cymbal to me will always be symbol.

CLANG CLANG

And hahahahaha.

180 (Never allow 180 to plot the ship's course.)

PS. All the AM ships were named after birds. I do not think there was one name Penguin.

4. Wow, that really sounds sincere
Hadn't heard him say that, because I can't usually stand to listen to him.

But most of them have been taught to believe we are mentally unfit or immoral. I say lets build alliances where we can. If they get to know us and even consider that we might have a point . . . then they might start using some critical thinking skills.

14. My take on Scarborough as someone who knows many people like him
Scarborough is a traditional conservative typical of the average southern person who votes republican. He's from the Gulf Coast, and he cares deeply about the people there. He has been appalled by the handling of Hurricane Katrina. He has always been somewhat of a populist - that being how he got elected. Most church-going folk believe what Scarborough said about Jesus rather than what that other guy did. The radical religious right are a very small, albeit vocal, minority. They turn off the left, the unbeliever, but also the more mainstream Christian. Unfortunately many who are in more mainstream churches don't ever keep up with what the lunatic fringe are saying or doing. This catastrophe has exposed them for what they are, and good for Scarborough for holding their feet to the fire.

Don't think Scarborough will ever become a Democrat, but he most likely will continue to speak out against Republican actions that he sees don't line up with what he thinks Republicans should believe in. This might very well convince many of his viewers who typically vote republican to vote Democrat next time. I don't usually agree with him, but I hope he continues to expose those in the republican party who have bastardized conservatism.

Yes, He's more conservative (old values) type, but he also shows his bias and prefers wingnuts to anyone with a reasonable opinion!
