PAINTED POST - One man's experience in the U.S. Marine Corps gave an audience attending the talk by the former recruiter Friday night a number of points to consider.

Jimmy Massey, 33, of Waynesville, N.C., who was recruited for the Marines as a homeless teenager off the streets of New Orleans, said armed forces recruiting policies are aimed at those who think they have few options and want to improve their economic condition. snip

Iraqi civilians were needlessly slaughtered because of a trigger-happy mentality among troops worried about terrorists.

The stories from embedded journalists during the war were fiction.

The only weapons of mass destruction in Iraq are the ammunition rounds made from spent uranium that are causing a buildup of radiation in the country.

2. This young man needs a wider audience
The audience of about 25 people at Corning West High School seemed enthralled by Massey's talk, hardly making a sound until the question-and-answer period.
