One Week Ago Today - D.C. street cam and a note of appreciation
15th St NW & Constitution NW

This is one of the few cams that would feed last week. Wish I had thought to start saving the shots earlier than 1:37 p.m. - but I didn't, and missed quite a bit of it. Someone had posted the first pic in the series here, and that's when I started saving. There's also a lapse between 2:14 and 2:30 that I missed. The last capture was at 2:50 p.m., then it went really glitchy.

Think I'd be fairly safe in saying there were at least 30 people in attendance - maybe even upwards of 100 or so.

Thank you to everyone who went. It was a beautiful sight that brought a huge grin to my face and tears to my eyes. I'm so proud of all of you.

You fill my heart with hope.

:patriot:

16 minute lapse 2:14-2:30 :(

Not sure about the bandwidth use at photobucket. If this isn't showing up, the pics are here:

1. ...a few hundred people at most...
These are the kinds of photos that Bushco hates. Because they tell the truth.

6. and these were taken at least an hour in.
Pretty sure the number of people passing that one point (15th & Constitution) could be safely doubled.

Yeah, I'd say you're probably right - "a few hundred". It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

8. You're welcome.
and yes, they were definitely 'glitchy'. It was frustrating. Couldn't be there except in spirit and wanted to at least be able to view it. This one cam was the only one in the area that I could get to reload fairly consistently.

Welcome to DU, Pierogi_Pincher. :hi:

9. Thank you!
It's nice to be able to actually see the "sea" of people protesting! Most of us were force fed ANSWER on Cspan, which was beyond frustrating! Seeing what really happened is awesome!

:yourock:

p.s. you should send those photos to Michael Moore. :)

15. Ha!
list of reasons they couldn't be there:

washing 'POWER OF PRIDE' stickers
standing in line at the recruiter's office
working - dammit, we have jobs!
not enough portapotties
traffic - breakdowns (mental and otherwise)
sign was so heavy, got a hernia and spent the day in the emergency room
mommy locked me in the basement
Billy Joe Ray Bob was supposed to be navigating, ended up in Oklahoma

slinking off into a corner to hide from the faces of truth

opposing war?

Did I say that?

Nah, Just a normal Saturday afternoon stroll down the streets of Washington D.C. and me with nothing better to do than to capture pics and share them here. *sigh* same old same old... ;)

The beauty of it is these wonderful 'shoppers' aren't buying any of the lies.

23. Hey, soup,
even though they are just shoppers waving store sale fliers, saying stuff like "Who needs levees? Buy 'Lady Hanes' underwear!", I had to give it a recommendation for the Greatest Page cuz they are GLORIOUS photos of hoards of dedicated shoppers!

Thank you for these wonderful pics, and thank you to all who were there for us!!!!!!!!!

26. LOL The commercials must have really made an impression.
~twang~

"Daddy wears his t-shirt in the cold Kentucky Raain.
His little boy in clean white briefs looks through the windowPaane.

Even though his hamster died, he finds some comfort there,
cause Yooou can't overlove your underwear."

one of my favorites.

No, wait, that was Fruit of the Loom... Hanes.. Oh, yeah. "Wait'll we get our Hanes on you."

and yeah, even a week later - finally getting these posted to the internets, brought back some of the feelings that surrounded last Saturday.

24. When these pics were taken

I was marching with Code Pink at that point. See Code Pink's big Pink Balloon Peace Sign is the upper left corner? They were supposed to march among the first but for some reason things got out of control at the start of the march. Instead we ended up waiting for over 2 hours while everyone in the Ellipse was allowed to march ahead of the groups lined up in the street. The result was that at the point these pics were taken 10,000's of people had already marched ahead of us. There were people finishing the route before we could even walk. So picture this image and multiple it be the number of blocks on the route. That's how many people marched.

25. Thank you for the reference point!
That particular one was captured at 2:14 p.m. I noted the time in naming the pics as I saved them. You can check the properties to see the time.

Sort of figured that the number of people could easily be doubled due to the late start in capturing the pics.

another consideration:
C-SPAN was covering the speakers, and there was still a fair crowd in the stage area at that time. But, it looked like it was starting to thin out, and towards the very end, when the coverage ended at 3, there were very few left. Sure wish they'd scheduled Jessica Lang earlier in the program. She was absolutely excellent (and very on point).

Thank you so much for being there - and to everyone for their awesome (in the truest sense of the word) pics this last week. I was only there in spirit, but my spirit was soaring.

we all know that the demonstration was rather small and was dominated by those bad commie answer types. So cut the obviously photo-shopped nonsense out.
