No not the old cnn show but actual gun fire. That's my biggest problem with guns. If person a and person b wanna "settle the score" let them I'll step aside. However what laws will be in place if in innocent bystander gets hit or -from my perspective me. Do I have the right to sue the owner of the fire arm that shot me? Please no flaming on this thread I mean to start an intelligent discourse on the subject that I think were all missing. So while I wont touch a gun - i have parkinsons- and my aim is reduced to zero - i wont take away your right to own one. How ever what rights does a person have if they get hit by crossfire? Any thoughts? Please no flaming.

9. Thirty-five years ago, I found myself caught in the crossfire between |
|
local cops and bank robbers. I was putting some groceries into my car when it all started. I grabbed a woman putting her groceries into a car next to mine, and threw myself protectively on top of her. We both survived and it's sort of funny to think about now; but it was scary at the time. Talk about the Wild West. This happened in suburban Washington, D.C.
I wonder what ever happened to her?

2. If a person shoots you, even negligently, you can sue the person |
|
If an owner leaves his gun unattended you can sue the owner but you might lose depending on the jury.

4. Sue? I believe that would be criminal charges, actually. |
|
Depending on how creative your lawyer is, I'm guessing you could stick attempted manslaughter, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal negligence, and reckless endangerment.
Then when we get to civil charges, obviously there's hells of money to be made here, off of lost wages, pain&suffering, punitive damages, medical expenses, etc.

5. Wouldn't Reckless Endangerment cover that situation? |
|
I'm sure there's laws in place that say it's not nice to injure unintended vicitms when you're committing a felony.
