How to clear the Supreme Court and start over without impeachment.
Defund it.

Zero budget.

Electricity off.

Water off.

No staff.

No phones.

No computers.

No paper.

No pens.

No court reporter.

Congress has the power of the purse - an important leg in checks and balances that it has never exercised.

How long do you think any of these Republicans would remain there?

1. I like your thinking--but who would pull the plug on congress, too?

4. A. The Congress is controlled by the 'pukes
B. The "people" would never stand for this (at least I hope not).

10. Well we've let them for a long freaking time now
Sorry, I don't support that. Not trying to rid the Govt of one of the three constitutionally called for branches.

12. This was a control on the courts the founders placed there for a reason.
And this is that reason.

Remember your civics class? This was covered.

and it'll never fly. I prefer to work on the realistic, not on fantasy.

5. So, you want we should start nagging congress critters?
Love the idea, worry that congress critters have their own hides to save and got the message that loyality to the BUSHCO Mob has its rewards.

We need to win Congress back no matter what that takes.

16. Das a fact. And to do that, we gotta have fair, accurate vote counts
Glad my county is poor, small and uses pencils. Oh, and I help count the votes to keep them all honest ;)

13. Your thinking is a bit flawed.
Congress may have the power of the purse, but we don't have the power of the Congress. And we couldn't override the definite veto that would come.

14. Veto of what?
You cannot veto the negative action of not approving a budget.

18. We win Congress in '06
And we exclude the court's budget from the budget and appropriations congress passes.

20. Alright, well, why don't we focus on step one before moving on to step 2
As Step 1 is most definitely not assured by any means. We MIGHT be able to take back the Senate, but the House is not very likely.

21. I disagree...
By '06 energy costs will have given us the weakest Congressional incumbents in modern history.

24. Even a weak incumbent still has an advantage.
I think we'll narrow the gap, but getting 16 seats to change hands is not going to be a cakewalk by any means.

26. I didn't say it wasn't worthwhile.
But I also wasn't the one who implied retaking the House was a sure thing either.

27. It *is* a sure thing if we work tirelessly.
If we never give an inch, never give up, We will win it.

If we pause for just one moment, Let the rope go slack for an instant, that is when we will be drawn into the abyss.

A "sure thing" is what you get when hard work meets opportunity.

23. MANY years ago, david brinkley made the observation that congress used
to be in recess from may through oct (believe the comment came during some of the "conserving energy" measures taken during the carter admin, you know--shirtsleeves, open windows, etc) and said that the reason for that was that prior to the installation of air conditioning, it was simply unbearable to be in DC in the summer. so, no a/c in summer, and no heat in winter for the critters, either.
