Outcry Prompts Bennett to Delay Talk
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/10/03/national/a072827D64.DTL

Former Education Secretary William Bennett has postponed an appearance at the University of Cincinnati because of what he called a "willful distortion" of his remarks about aborting black babies.

Bennett said controversy stemming from his "Morning in America" radio show last week would detract from serious discussions of issues. College Democrats at the university had said they would protest Tuesday's scheduled appearance.

"The current controversy that has arisen around comments I made on my radio show, based on a willful distortion of what I said, will take away from the serious discussion I wanted to engage in with the students and community at the University of Cincinnati," Bennett said in a statement released Sunday by the UC College Republicans.

3. I don't think Bennett even understands
why everyone is up in arms over his comments-he put in qualifiers, but the matter stands that he implied by his statements that all blacks cause crime. Sad to say, he probably believes it.

7. "based on a willful distortion of what I said" Really, How so, Bill? I
love the way the neocons holler "out of context" and "distortion!" everytime they get their tail caught in a crack promoting one of their whacko theories. When you think in a certain way long enough sooner or later your guard is going to drop and you are going to say it out loud. That is exactly what happened here. Buh Bye Bill. And thanks for the entertainment!
