GOPer David Frum on Miers: What he DELETED from his blog
"She rose to her present position by her absolute devotion to George Bush. I mentioned last week that she told me that the president was the most brilliant man she had ever met. To flatter on such a scale a person must either be an unscrupulous dissembler, which Miers most certainly is not, or a natural follower. And natural followers do not belong on the Supreme Court of the United States."

Too late, Davey-poo — the genie's out of the bottle and cannot be deleted (heh-heh)!

6. The pubblies would love to pack the Court with
natural followers. They already have one in the person of the pathetic Clarence Thomas, who slavishly follows Sacalia's every lead. All they need is one powerful personality like Scalia and a bunch of yes men/women.

10. yeschildren.
Except Miers is comparatively old. she is 10 yrs Johnnie's senior.

When it comes to personality, Scalia is a dirtfighter. Roberts is going to be mincemeat.

19. To be fair to Thomas, after another 10 years seasoning on the bench, he's
starting to think on his own, write a couple of opinions, even vote against Scalia on two to four cases per year. It takes about ten years for many young judges to get to the point where they're comfortable writing complex opinions and arguing the critical constitutional questions that come before appellate courts. I think it's wonderful that the Bushes have found it in their hearts to give opportunities for learning and growing to some of America's young, inexperienced lawyers.

9. The Government of the United States of America
is the Bush family's personal plaything.

Maybe finally this idiotic appointment will make EVERY American wake up and see that.

13. Bush is "the most brilliant man she (has) ever met?" Holy shitsky.
She's either a complete idiot, or an ass-licking sycophant of the first water--or both. Either way she'd be a disaster on the SCOTUS. Cripes.

20. She may even find some of her future SCOTUS colleagues there, too...
...if Bush gets any more appointments. His appointments are getting chummier, dumber, and closer to home. At this rate the next Scotum will be a Bush family member, assuming he can find any one of them who's passed the bar exam.

Don't give them any help. They should be insane over this pick. You must check out what they are saying. Bush has completely betrayed his base. Biush makes Brown look competent. Cocktail anyone?

29. Poll is Flawed
I took the poll at NewsMax and when I got to the question about who did I vote for in the election the box in the previous question about who he should nominate it came unchecked. No matter what I did it wouldn't work -- it was awfully reminiscent of the presidential election ballots...:yoiks:

24. Frum's Comments
Does anyone think Frum made these comments because Miers is a woman. He claims that she only got the job because of her "devotion" to Bush. However, everyone who has a job in this administration is a person who got the job because that person gave "absolute devotion" to Bush. No matter who you look at whether it is Rice, Brown, or Gonzales they got the jobs they got by either kissing Bush's butt or by knowing the right person. So why does Frum bring this up now when the person is a woman. Roberts would not have been nominated for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court if he had not been loyal to Bush. Following Bush is the only way to get a job in this administration.

25. Andrew Sullivan called her a "flunky" last year
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 09:28 PM by dsewell
FWIW:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2088-1367568_1,00.html

"And who replaced Gonzales as chief White House lawyer? One Harriet Miers, another under-the-radar flunky of the first term. Where did she get her start? You beat me to it. She was one of Bush’s closest confidantes and friends when he was running for office or governing Texas."

And from today: "Think of her as a very capable indentured servant of the Bush family." Great line!

that means Bushit is doing his darndest to basically have EVERYONE vilify him.... pathetic.

and when she said Bush was "brilliant", I think she'd have had to had said that with that tone that you add to the word brilliant when you say someone's a real 'piece' of work.

well, I can imagine... she's like 75 right??? (my mom got a kick out of that one!)
