wages going up in gno area after katrina
anyone see this story

http://www.nola.com/newslogs/breakingtp/index.ssf?/mtlogs/nola_Times-Picayune/archives/2005_10_04.html#084987

if you want workers, no more thinking you can cheap out on us & pay a piddling $5.15 an hour

this is what we need, better paying JOBS & also a place for workers to live

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits has increased hourly pay
rates for cashiers and cooks from just over the
federal minimum wage of $5.15 to more than $8, a jump
of more than 50 percent.

3. yes rumors are running like mad but they are just that, rumors
practically every business around here that is open has a sign "now hiring" in front

they are not going to get anyone unless they are aggressive abt offering a good pay

hell clean-up crew folks are getting $15-20 an hour

2. They can't hold employees at 5.15/hr
So they have to keep raising prices until they can get turn-over down to an acceptable level.
