charlotte, nc - Get ready for higher prices at the pump

Be prepared for another increase at the gas pump as experts expect gas prices to jump from $3.20 a gallon to $3.40 and stay that high for weeks.

The price for a gallon of gas in some parts of Charlotte is now higher than a gallon of milk. One station went from $2.99 Tuesday to $3.19 Wednesday.

<snip>

Prices are really going to spike in the next couple of weeks,” said Andrew Shain of WCNC’s news partner The Charlotte Observer. “We’re looking into getting into the $3.40’s experts are telling me.”

That’s because our gas comes from the Gulf Coast which is still recovering from the recent storms. Distributors are now driving from city to city, tank to tank, hoping to fill up.

<snip>

“October is going to be a pretty pricey month for gas,” said Shain.

1. What's not to get? Price gouging is a pretty simple concept really.
:sarcasm:

Last week we jumped from $2.62 to $2.91 in 48 hours. Disgusting and it's amazing what you get used to. $2.50 sounds cheap now.

2. argh.
I am so glad that I bought a house near work. And everyone laughed at me for keeping the fuel efficient cars while everyone else was out buying SUV's. So on a basic level, my family will do ok. But our business will be badly impacted by the higher pump prices. So we will still get hit hard in the pocketbook.

to live close to work. We are moving as soon as our lease is up ( not until Jan. though).

We have a cool cheap place BUT it is 20 miles from work ... we gonna go from a 3 bedroom townhome to a 2 bedroom small apartment right across the street from my husbands work and he will bike to work ...

9. We just dropped my husband's bike off at the repair shop for a tune up.
My husband will ride to work several days a week. Two birds with one stone, save on gas and work on the paunch he has been developing ;)

That is what I wish I owned, a bike shop! Bet they are doing some business, what with gas prices going higher and higher.

6. You'll Get It At Both Ends
Higher gas for your vehicle, so you decide to stay home more....except that now the house is cold, because the natural gas also went up. Oh, well! Put on a kettle of soup on the stove and let it simmer to warm up your soul....nope, another gas user. Hmmmmm! Ain't nothin' no fun no more!

4. Prices are high because of Bush's corrupt war, not the hurricanes
The hurricanes are serving Bush and his cronies just fine, aren't they.

10. My son reported $3.20 last night
He's unemployed in Charlotte and hates the idea of having to drive around to interviews, or even to buy groceries. He longs for decent public transit.

Anybody in Charlotte need a highly talented illustrator/graphic designer?

11. Charlotte SUCKS
for public transit.

My hubby is a graphic designer/tech writer and fortunately has a decent paying job with wachovia.

Have your son check out first-place. They are the recruiters for wachovia.
