Bush warns war on terror will require more sacrifice

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Struggling to rebuild American support for the Iraq war, President George W. Bush said on Thursday the struggle would require more sacrifice and accused Islamic militants of trying control Iraq as a step toward a radical Islamic empire.

"The militants believe that controlling one country will rally the Muslim masses, enabling them to overthrow all moderate governments in the region and establish a radical Islamic empire that expands from Spain to Indonesia," Bush said in a speech.

Bush, speaking to the National Endowment for Democracy, claimed progress in Iraq, which he portrayed as a central front in the U.S. war on terrorism, and vowed the United States would stay on.

"Wars are not won without sacrifice, and this war will require more sacrifice, more time, and more resolve. The terrorists are as brutal an enemy as we have ever faced," he said.

that would be the smartest thing he could do right now. he could even give use his influence to make sure they spent all their time at some deskjob. but it would give him a shot in the polls.

10. Oh, now he calls for sacrifice. Why not tell us that before the invasion?
"You will suffer a major recession. You will go in debt by 5 billion dollars a week. I or some future leader will have to take a lot more of your money in taxes to pay for the combination of this war and the billions I am giving to my richest supporters. You will lose a major US city and hundreds of lives because our National Gaurd will be elsewhere. Your health will suffer as your blood pressure rises when you realize that I am truly evil and incompetent and there is nothing you can do to stop me."

We should have heard that speech before the invasion.

We already knew he would never let us leave Iraq. Is he referring to anything else?
