text of Bush's odd conclusion to his speech
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 11:08 AM by Cocoa
<snip>

We don't know the course of our own struggle -- the course our own struggle will take -- or the sacrifices that might lie ahead. We do know, however, that the defense of freedom is worth our sacrifice. We do know the love of freedom is the mightiest force of history. And we do know the cause of freedom will once again prevail.

Now if you'll excuse me I gotta go veto the anti-torture legsilation.*

May God bless you. (Applause.)

*satire

2. The speech appears to be a flop.
I did not watch or listen (I have avoided the Coward for months) but relative to the pre-speech hype, there appears to be absolutely no excitement or positive commentary after the speech.

3. Did he really...
say, "Now if you'll excuse me I gotta go veto the anti-torture legislation?" Not that I don't think that's something he's tuned to say, but...........

5. I think it's code-speak for the white-wing fundy base
Sound like gobbledygook to me.

6. It's the same words over and over...
course, struggle, freedom, defense, freedom, prevail...

All that ever changes are the phrases in between. His speechwriter must have a list (a short list at that) of keywords that are strung together into sentences to sound like something a president would say, but it's just the same words repeated over and over. The don't mean anything and they don't make any real sense...
