He got in some great jabs at the administration for the war. He said, "Had we listened to Robert Byrd, who's running for his 9th term, we wouldn't be in this situation. Had we followed the Constitution and listened to Byrd, this never would have happend."

Now, he's talking about the administration refusing to let the coffins of soldiers be filmed..no pics and the media said, "Oh, OK." Hit the media over the head on that one.

I think Phil has been a voice from the wilderness for many years and I was seeing him in a way that made me uncomfortable, not very coherent to me at least. Maybe I'm too hypersensitive...

do better. There are times when he seems less than focused. But I think he did pretty good, especially after he seemed to warm up.

Years ago, I remember Jesse Jackson saying that an audience will not be bothered by a person who struggles at time to get their message out, because of emotion. In general, he may have reached a more moderate and less informed audience, in his somewhat folksy way.
