Datewatch: 10/19/05- the day the government appeals Abu Ghraib pic release |
|
I'd like to see those bastards give up the photos and video but it looks like they're trying to run the shot clock out again. For all those watching, I believe 10/19/05 is 20 days after Hellerstein's last ruling. I have no idea what the government will use as a defense this time- they were grasping at straws last time they stalled.
We'll see, one way or the other.

1. Everytime this issue comes up I end up posting the same thing. These |
|
photos, videos, etc. (or whatever) will only see the light of day if someone leaks them. The bush** administration cannot release them. They can't afford to.
And each new day brings a new and more compelling reason why they can't. As if the original photos hadn't made us a pariah, new ones would just be more than the world would be able to stomach. And now that we're taking over mosques and turning them into soldiers barracks, well boy howdy, things can only get worse. We have some truly incompetent and evil people running this government, and they all have a lot to lose if those photos get out. So it's not gonna happen willingly, or even by court mandate.
Hope we have a leaker soon. Or we can just go to the gore-for-porn site where soldiers post pictures of Iraqi dead. Another brilliant move.

3. the photos will sure a hell sink Bush's planned VETO of |
|
the anti-torture legislation.
Could BushCo's ugliness be any plainer than in this wholesale record of and support for ongoing torture...

5. I know what you mean- I actually honestly thought that... |
|
...BushCo was going to GO ALONG with the legislation because it would make them look like they were making a change. I guess they're just too wrapped up in their own shit even to use that strategy.

4. Its hard to imagine they will ever get out with the Bush supreme court. |

As long as they can keep appealing it, they will eventually find a judge or court willing to violate the law for the sake of 'security'.

I'd been wondering what happened in that case (need to pay closer attention.)
