NBC Nightly News Just NAILED Gov. Blanco & Her Response to Katrina!! WTF?
I couldn't believe it! NBC Nightly News just came up with this LONG LONG list of how Blanco failed, how the response was HER FAULT, etc. They even played a tape of her where she admitted she should have asked for the military earlier!

Has * gotten to NBC???

:wtf:

4. I'm familiar with the "ask for the military earlier" comment....
In CONTEXT, she was saying that somehow she hadn't been able to crack the magic code, find her way through an intentionally obstructive maze....ie., she hadn't said "May I?" in her communications with FEMA. I remember seeing copious evidence here at DU about the responsibility of FEMA to guide and instruct local officials in their application for aide. I don't care how those NBC/GE talking heads spin it...FEMA is the responsible organization here.

5. NBC, owned by GE, defense contractor
GE, where they bring good things to life - then kill them with smart bombs.

Mainstrem media are distinctly pro-Bush, pro-business. All the networks are infested with these types who don't know any news. They read the text and stories they are given.

Now that we're a month out, let's face it, Gov. Blanco did a terrible job. She had her head at least as far up her ass as Bush had his up his own ass. She's weak, indecisive, and not worth defending, IMO.

I'll defend Nagin, but I can't defend her, because she never showed me anything AFTER the storm, either.

23. She had her bad moments...
But she is on record as asking tor federal assistance numerous times, including at one point saying "I need everything you got".

The point of FEMA, as created by Jimmy Carter, is to have an organization that specializes in emergencies. A governor or a mayor is often going to go through a disaster for the first time. FEMA is meant to be the experts, who know what to do, and what is needed. They aren't supposed to fly helicopters or pull people out of burning buildings, but they are supposed to coordinate efforts with the locals and bring in federal assistance where needed. In New Orleans, it was pretty obviously that it was needed in spades.

If the United States is going to operate in such a fashion that emergencies are left up to local officials with minimal resources, I don't think we can go around and trumpet that our way of running things is superior. Holland (which is laregly below sea level) had a massive flood in the mid-90's and nobody died.

Who knows - maybe having legalized marijuana enables the federal government to put its braintrust into more useful functions.

6. I didn't hear this new report, but I'm going to wait until more
info is released.

I can tell you, I started wondering just what my own mayor or Governor would do here in Ga. if some major devastation hit my area. Just how many officials are really prepared with a plan? I don't know the answer!

I'm not going to defend Blanco or the Mayor of NO just because they are Dems. FEMA was obviously unprepared to do their job, and they seem to have ordered all their employees "Not to do anything until we say you can" which is why the WM trucks with bottled water weren't allowed into NO! But I do have some questions about what the argument between Blanco and Bush really was, and why the Mayor just said "he would yell louder" when asked what he would do differently.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but not a free pass.

13. Nothing like the scene of a disaster for a political photo op. With the
aiding and abetting of the corporate media, Bush takes what should have been black marks against him (such as 9-11), worthy of the highest condemnation, and turns them to his own purposes.

11. Once the levees were overcome, what else could she do?
It truly was a federal responsibility. The NO port had national signifincance and we all know that. LA is a poor state; the federal government had a responsibility that it failed to assume. Simple as that.

It is shameful for us to blame this honorable woman.

16. The levees (floodwalls really) should have held.
If the corp of engineers was properly funded and the floodwalls properly maintained, they would have held. Imagine a country where the government is strong enough to survive and attempted drowning in the bathtub.

We still don't have all the facts and I think both the Governor and Mayor will be exonerated when that happens.

19. The School Buses! The School Buses!
If they had just killed all the looters and put everyone else on a school bus there would have been no problems. Well, except for that 5,000 pound alligator, that would still have been a problem.

14. Please tell me you aren't shocked
Look, let's be honest with ourselvs for a moment shall we? Rush Limbaugh and the GOP Spin masters have been saying this since before the Hurricane hit. They claim it's all local, and there really isn't anything that the Feds could do, much less should do.

All the Freepers, Newsmax, and Faux news crowd have been crowing this nonsense for weeks, and sure enough, big report surfaces, and it's all Blanco's fault.

Now we are supposed to be surprised that the grand conspiracy of the Big Lie shows up on NBC News? My Friends, are you kidding me? This is yet another example why I have no faith in the Plame outing investigation. Why I have no faith in the DeLay indictment, they always spin their way out of it. By next week, the polling numbers our leaders use to determine what they are supposed to say will clearly show that a vast majority of Americans believe the propaganda, and think Bush is a saint.

All this evidence, all this information, and the truth doesn't even make it out the starting gate. Mark Twain was right, a lie is halfway around the world before the truth even get's done tying it's shoes. No wonder the DLC want's to blame us Liberal/Progressives for the failing of the DNC to beat the chimp. If they face the truth that they're being done in by a Repugnik friendly press, then they have to admit they are defeated already in 06, and 08.

Tell me again how we are going to win pretending to be Repugniks? Before we can even get our candidates on the ballot, there will be a NBC/GE report on how the Democratic Party is really filled with aliens from space who are working in league with the Devil to turn everyone homosexual. How many of us cheered when the Memos on Bush's service surfaced? How many of us congradulated Kerry for winning that day? How many of us lived with the dissapointment of the next week, and the next month. How many of us watched our Presidency taken from us again by the big lie?

How can you be Shocked when this has happened how many times? Why doesn't the press tell the truth? When Bush tells us the war is going fine thanks, why don't they show him before the big "Mission Accomplished" banner? Why doesn't anyone ask him when we are going to see the next Mission Accomplished special? You know the answer, the Press works for his cronies in big corporate america.

They have a fairly large number of right-wing reporters in places other than Fox including Myers and Campbell Brown @ NBC, Daryn Kagan(aka Rush's "mistress") and Kyra Phillips @ CNN, etc...

21. my partner and i watched that crap
he immediately said, once it was over, that it was just bullshit because if the governor had called for a mandatory evacuation TWO WEEKS before, it wouldn't have made a difference.

the people who were left were people WHO COULD NOT LEAVE!

but they refuse to address that.

GE=NBC=Jack Welch=treasonous bastard who helped throw the 2000 election to bush.

jack welch also said the news departments should be able to push news that would help their bottom line. which is exactly what nbc has been doing, ever since.
