Katrina evacuees flown out of TX (to get away from Rita) try to get home.

Local news just did a short piece on a family that was evacuated to Beaumont, TX and then flown here to Louisville to get out of the way of Rita are trying to get home. The family is apparently part of a medical evacuation and don't have the means to get back home. The Red Cross is providing temporary housing up here and said FEMA is working on a plan to get them home.


My guess is that will come to fruition in about 2-3 years given FEMA's track record.

1. Maybe they can hitch a ride with those ice trucks in Maine

FEMA still has ice trucks from Katrina it rerouted to Maine, where they've now parked the ice. Yeah, Maine in the winter is where you need ice.

The outfall of Katrina and Rita is still being felt, as most people have gotten no aid whatsoever.
