'Teflon Terminator' was a hit with female voters
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/10/09/1065601945742.html

Despite lingering allegations of boorish behaviour, women came out in force to vote for the "Teflon Terminator" Arnold Schwarzenegger, ushering him into California's governor's mansion.

"Women supported him, which is amazing," said University of California professor Elizabeth Garrett.

(snip)

A CNN exit poll showed that 51 per cent of women voters chose to oust embattled Governor Gray Davis to 49 who voted to keep him in his office.

The exit poll showed that 43 per cent of women voted to install the action star in the state's top job to only 36 per cent for his closest rival, Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante.

Gotta wonder how the Oprah telecast figures into this...

1. Just keep the phrase "Governor Giveaway" ready...
...in case he tries to go through with the 2-cents-on-th-dollar Enron settlement.

2. I am sure he did the WORST with women
had the LATimes not reported the allegations of groping, that 51-49 would have been more like 55-45

3. Maybe it was the "MARIA" factor. I have a post about that. I think she
helped him more than we realized. Especially when she vouched for his character. And, her Kennedy connections and visibility on NBC.

I find his physical appearance so distasteful, I couldn't have voted for him...no matter who his wife was. And, I never heard anything out of his mouth that revealed an overwhelming grasp of the issues facing CA, so I've got to believe that it was the Kennedy factor. That ties to the family would somehow bring class to ticket.

4. ?
I can think of MANY reasons not to vote for someone. I don't live in California, but I could come up with a list of reasons why I wouldn't vote for Arnold that would take up five college-ruled notebook pages, front and back. His physical appearance wouldn't be one of them...that seems DEEPLY shallow, and not more than a little sad.

6. I agree. I think women like/trust Maria Shriver
whether they're right to do that is another matter completely.

5. All Bushevik cornies, dupes, allies, Capos, and Buttons are "teflon"
There was a time when I believed that whole "teflon" bullshit.

Now that it has escalated to Orwellian proportions, I see now that teflon is a DIRECT result of the Right-Wing Sub-Media and the pasaitization (plus corporate consolidation) of the "mainstream press".

Now it's all Corporate TV Pravda, and will confer Teflon without limit on Busheviks and Velcro on all who oppose the Imperial Family.

8. I emailed Oprah after Arnold won
to let her know I would no longer watch her show. She had a direct hand in his being elected and I think it's despicable. Oprah, of all people, supporting a Repuke. I also look at the Kennedy/Shriver family support as traitors....family or not. NOT Teddy though. A man of principle. MY kind a guy!

One vote Schwarzenegger won't get
June 28 2003

<snip>"Listen, Arnold is great," the Democratic senator from Massachusetts told the Boston Herald newspaper this week. "And I never argue with Arnold, particularly when he's holding me by my ankles upside down. But I intend to support the Democrat."<snip>

9. 57% of women voted against the Gropenator that is the real
story. Nearly six out of ten women said NO to Arnold.
