Lawmaker Compares Black Caucus to Ku Klux Klan

A Knoxville lawmaker is being criticized and asked to resign for comparing the legislative Black Caucus to the Ku Klux Klan.

Racial tension is alive and well in the state legislature. A white man, and a first term lawmaker, Representative Stacey Campfield, asked about joining the black legislative caucus, and that’s where the problem started.

“I'm going to keep pushing forward on this,” said Campfiled.

1. Not exactly the approach that tends to get one invited. However
it does provide an excellent opportunity for some frank discussion.
Why does he want to join the caucus?
Does he feel that race is no longer socially relevant or that concern for justice and equal rights should not require a prescribed amount of melanin?
Would he insist that country clubs and similar associations open their doors to all citizens regardless of ethnicity or agree on pain of prosecution not to discuss business or politics...?
