I chose this community service alert for my first thread on DU. Bush's compassionate conservatism is about to become even more 'compassionate' on Oct 17.

Bush's cronies running the credit cards companies were not satisfied to make only billions in profits every year, now they want trillions. The changes in rules were vicious, racist and corrupt, like every Republican (and Democrat) who supported this insanely predatory bill.

Make sure you get informed, filing for bankruptcy is not as difficult as it seems. I filed under Chapter 7 last year, kept my co-op and erased $25,000 of credit card bills (I'm just sorry it wasn't $25,000,000!!) Now I don't get extorted every month anymore by these loan sharks, all Bush's friends, paying up to 29% in interest.

yes, the deadLine is the 17th, but they have to be fiLed no Later than this friday... so time is even shorter.

i can't imagine having the time to get it done by then. :(

However, our filing is electronic, giving us until midnight Sunday to send the filing over the internets.

6. Our clerk has a letter up on the court site.

"You must submit your work prior to 1200 a.m Monday, October 17 for your case to be considered filed under "pre-BAPCPA" laws and rules."

Then the system goes down for at least half of Monday.

It's a madhouse.

If you know an attorney who specializes in Bankruptcy (I don't, no way), they might have the ability to file electronically.

Classic Bushite backfire -- they vote this thing in to carry the mail for the Banks . . . and what happens is everybody files and blows off their credit card debt, just before the deadline.

I was glad you alerted me, the corporate media has this fake Oct 17 'deadline' so everyone misses the real one, Oct 14. I hope the lines are huge all over the country, credit card companies deserve to be stiffed.
