This Paradox Occurs To Me |
|
Reflecting on the visit to Mexico last week by a delegation from China this paradox occurred to me. China has reassured Mexico that it does not intend to put undue competitive pressure on their marketing to the US economy. Mexicans, being the intelligent people they are realize it is just a matter of time until the Chinese open up their own plants in Mexico to take advantage of the cheap labor, easy access, and low transportation cost to the US market are doing what they have done for years - heading north to partake in the richest economy on earth. Once here and gainfully employed, as almost all of our Mexican guests are, how do they celebrate their new found economic abundance? They head for Wal Mart and buy up the cheap Chinese shit. Is this not a paradox?
