Harriet Miers' Minimal Makeover ---pix->>>
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 03:14 PM by Stephanie

They've toned her down a bit. She's a little less garish. Wonder how those tutorials on Constitutional Law are going?

3. I am no expert on the fashions of professional women
...but if I had to guess, I would say she picked out her own clothes. If she has a personal shopper, that person HATES her!

6. Her new clothes are only slightly better than her old ones.

Good lord. You would think she'd have a wardrobe consultant and professional makeup and hair. I suppose that her position as a bigtime lawyer in Texas did nto involve wearing nice suits.

4. No wonder they want to put
her in a long black robe! Yikes--if this is a sign of how she thinks and the image she wishes to portray, it's pretty alarming.

7. yup - still in beta testing
They toned down her clothes and makeup and told her to stop cutting her own bangs and lay off the 18 pieces of gold jewelry. Too bad they can't teach her a lifetime's worth of legal studies in a week.

9. The much softer eye makeup
works very well for her. I'd like to see her update her hairstyle, a Hillary 'do would look classy on her! Stay with navy, blacks and browns, less flared and a little longer skirts, which seem alot more flattering for her age and position too :) Jackets a little longer too.

Ok, my 2 cents, but I'm almost her age, and know what works and doesn't .... heh, heh. I think she can be a very attractive lady with the right "stuff". But look how long we've been working on Condi's helmet head :sigh:

11. Wow. You really have to be kidding me.
This is simply amazing. I actually feel sorry for her.

I begin to wonder if this whole ordeal could possibly become more bizarre, and I don't usually have to wonder long.

16. I told you they would do a makeover on her
Well not you, personally. :) But when we looked at photos of her the day of the announcement and people were saying, "stop talking about her eyeliner!" I said it was fair game because these people use image to manipulate the public, and I said just watch, they will make her over.

14. In that last pic, she looks a thousand percent better.
Not that her looks matter. Her belief that Dumbya is the smartest person she knows should, however.

17. They use image to manipulate us, so looks do matter.
They made her over to make her more professional and serious looking. It matters.

15. She's got a really nasty haircut.
That's the second thing I noticed about her, right after the bad eyeliner. The dated haircut with the streetwalker eyes is just plain jarring.

On a side note, in that third photo down of the Oct. 3 pics, look at the way she's looking at Junior. It's all in her eyes - that's when I knew she has a crush on the boss, and the "you're so cool" "best governor ever" just confirmed it.

I feel like our government is run by a bunch of over-aged high schoolers.

20. I hate to be so shallow, but...
She just looks like a whacko. At least Roberts - I will give it to him - had an exemplary legal history and was well-qualified at a minimum (even though he had little or no judicial experience, right?)

This woman seems to have absolutely nothing to qualify her for this position but that she is a lawyer and kisses *'s ass. I mean come on...this is the Supreme Court. Surely there's another ass-kissing Fundie right-wing nutjob who at least has SOME experience to speak of.

It's why I never got the right's infatuation with Monkey Boy. I get that they think he's a Bible thumper and will coddle big business and all of that - but isn't there someone who fits that qualification who ALSO has a brain in their head?

This Meiers nomination is turning out to be a train wreck and for good reason.

22. Good Christian-Taliban women should follow these simple rules>>>
http://www.twopaths.com/faq_dress.htm

I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. (NIV, 1 Timothy 2:9-10)

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. (NIV, 1 Peter 3:2-5)
