I was insensitive about Sharpton
And I apologize. I thought about it and my post about Sharpton was wrong. I am not a fan of the man, but he did sound more credible that I had thought.

Sharpton has been a necessary voice at ALL of the debates. He is a most brilliant man.

And, yes I'm aware of Tawana Brawley... So what? All of our candidates have their baggage.

That kind of behavior from a forum moderator is inexcusable. It's one thing to pull someone for trolling, quite another for disallowing support for two of the candidates in the primary.

If you've been banned twice, it's because you broke the fucking rules numerous times, despite warnings.

And who the fuck do you think you are to groundlessly accuse the mods of racism?

You've probably been banned because of that. Well good fucking riddance.

You'd think after being banned twice that people like you aren't welcome here.

7. I can't bear to see you being so hard on yourself. After all, you only
said, "Sharpton. He doesn't look as scummy as I thought he would look." That's not really so objectionable, is it? I mean, there's probably an element of racism in it - but hell, no one's perfect.

I must protest. You should stand your ground. You said what you honestly believed. Don't let the libruls intimidate you with their unrealistic fantasies of "correct behavior." Most Americans, after all, would support your earlier statement. That makes it right.

Er, doesn't it?

18. I THINK
After reading your statement in the first thread again, I think you are right to apologize, but only because you used the wrong word. I think a lot of people took it to mean you thought he didn't LOOK (as in appearance) "scummy" tonight. You really meant he didn't sound or come off as scummy. That's how I took it all along. After reading what you actually wrote again - I can see the need for apology. But, I also think you were treated very poorly by many in this community that I wouldn't have expected to play "thought police." There's nothing WRONG with thinking Sharpton is on the seedy side - I think his record proves that. But, I would have phrased it differently and it's clear you realize that now as well. It is big of you to apologize. Rest easy now, Carlos.

I was afraid you would miss my response to the Sharpton thread. Now...to the iggy bin.

I would observe that Carlos has gotten what he was longing for tonight. Unfortunately I have to gratify him more to say so. After tonight I am going to ignore Carlos. In the 2.5 years I have been here...I have never put anyone on ignore. Not even for a day or two. Congratulations Carlos. 1st on the ignore list.

This is hard as I am usually VERY tolerant person, but you push all my buttons. Despite your protestations to the contrary, I think you are a DINO. I have never heard you espouse anything remotely Democratic. In my observation you have been condecending, rude and obnoxious to me and others on more than one occasion. You have insulted me called me a "conspiracy theorist", idiot, etc etc etc.

I know your itching to hit alert! Go ahead. But after this reply you go to the iggy bin and I will never remove you from it. Ta Ta enjoy florida! Stay on that side of the country mmmmmmkay.

Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 10:26 PM by jiacinto
most registered Democrats are "DINOs" to you.

Well, if you want to put me on your ignore list, go right ahead. I'll put you on mine. That way I won't ever read your posts and you won't ever read mine.

You claim to be tolerant, but you really aren't to people who don't agree with you. As for me being "condascending, rude, and obnoxious" you have acted in that manner toward me on several occasions here. But I do know that your clique of DUers will rush to you--like a pack of wolves--to join you in attacking me.

I could care less if you put me on ignore. As for "never hearing me espouse anything remotely Democratic" your litmus tests are so high that most Democrats don't even pass them.

Have a good life, though. And now you go on my ignore list too. No hard feelings. That way we both can mutually avoid each other.

33. Know what? I took Carlos *off* ignore a long time ago
I may disagree with 90% of what he says, but about half of it is actually pretty sound. He has some solid opinions about electoral politics in this country that are worth thinking through. Plus, he makes enough significant contributions to numerous threads that you will get confused when his posts start disappearing. Having him on ignore is actually more annoying and less interesting than risking his more caustic attacks.

So you may find yourself taking him off ignore pretty soon, too.

...but I swear, I'm going to cybersmack the next person that says Sharpton is "articulate". Granted, when comparing one to George Bush, saying one is articulate by comparison is, well, small praise.

Sharpton is a passionate speaker, who clearly states many things that desperately need to be said in a nation where these issues have been "shoved under the cover" where we hide all our nations ugly past history.

34. I missed what you said that was so insensitive
but I would strongly suggest that anyone who thinks the Tawana Brawley incident is "in the past" do a google search of the name Steve Pagones. Tawana has disappeared but this man is still here and his life was ruined by Sharpton. Really, he ruined this man's life. If Sharpton is merely comic relief, I'm with ya. But if you think he's more than that, if you think he somehow represents African Americans in this country, think again. With all the splendid African American role models in this country it is a travesty that this man has emerged as a spokesman.

I laugh along with everyone else when Al lets loose with a zinger. But I also remember that statesmanship is more than one-liners, and that the past DOES matter, and that if you embark on a personal quest to ruin someone else, you have a fundamental flaw as a human being.
