Somebody needs to tell the Dems, "KICK 'EM WHEN THEY'RE DOWN!!!"
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 09:32 AM by Walt Starr
Within minutes of the indictments being announced, the Dems should come out fighting against Republicans at all levels.

KICK THEM WHEN THEY ARE DOWN!!!!

And right after kicking them when they're down, KEEP KICKING THEM!!!

Tarnish every last Republican in the nation with this mess.

And don't just growl, the Dems need to BITE!!!

I am sooooo tired of the mister nice-guy attitude. I want them to scream from the tallest building a run-down of every piece of s___ these people are responsible for. After the kicking and biting of course!

Screw that. Hit'em with a tire iron when they're down. No quarter asked, none given!
Because you know if the shoe was on the other foot, they'd do the same.

57. No, not because they'd do the same
We're better than that. We don't have to justify behavior by saying the other guy does it, too. When we kick them in the teeth, it's not because they would do it, too: it's because it's the only kinda love they understand.

3. Well they need to tie this corruption to core republican ideals
Republicans don't believe in the American system of Governence and so they are unmoved by corruption; I mean if the system doesn't work anyway, why not rip it off?

4. It's much easier than bending over and punching them.
Another analogy would be to sit on their head/neck

From horsemen's lore, when you need to teach a horse a lesson of respect, force it lay down and then sit on its head. Unable to swing it's head the horse can't get up, or so the story goes. In the end the will of the horse to fight subsides and respect for the horsement is achieved. I have no idea if it's true. Just one of those rural myths.

I have no idea if it works with elephants.

The Democratic Party approach to getting their butts kicked? Ask some lame questions and then get laughed at by the neocons in response.

Sorry Democratic Party, bullies will always trash you unless you start hitting back. And since you seem to lack the balls to fight maybe the people you are meant to represent will need to do it for you.

can't handle the truth. Biden, Lieberman, Reid, etc. will decide that in the interest of the country they must be "statesman". They will try to be bigger/better people while not realizing that they are just being victims of the abusers.

19. We have nothing to learn from jackboot tactics. That is what freepers
did to Dems online after the election.

We need to push hard for more truth if indictments come down. We need to push the media to acknowledge they were not doing their jobs in the lead up to war. We need to push for a full accounting for how all this happened. And then push for legislation to make sure a "cabal" cannot take over the country in the future.

Yeah, Kick them for at least the next Sixteen Years!

Kick them with this;

Three Repug themes must that be dispelled;

1. Smaller Government is Better.
Wrong!

NOLA

2. The president is just a spokesman, the real decisions are made by experts and advisors.
Bad Policy !

What if your experts and advisors are at odds, A real leader with vision is needed to pull the team together.

3. Trickle Down Economics.
Bullshit !

See today's economy and all we benefited after 5 years of tax giveaways to the wealthy.

Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?

You've laid out a good, simple approach for HOW to kick them and keep them down. At the same time, every time, offer a positive alternative to the Republicans' Bizarro reality.

I would add:
4. When in doubt, err on the side of War.
Wrong! War should be waged only when Americans are threatened, and only as a last resort.

26. I disagree
First, its stupid to interefere when your foe is destroying himself.

Second, it lacks class.

Third, it opens you up as a target.

Fourth, it wastes your energy

Fifth, the Democrats need to show our party as a clean, positive
alternative with a plan to improve the lives of everyday americans

get Barak Obama as the 'face of the party' put him on every damn
show with a fistful of bright ideas and plans to put the country on
the right track. "We are offering a real program to unify this
nation. We have solid real plan for energy, education ending our
Iraq debacle and do so with economic vitality and fiscal responsibility."

38. I understand the urge to strike out...however..
I 'fight' for a living and have come to consider...is this
emotion helping me or hurting me?

I think that as satisfying as it feels to strike your foe when
he/she is down, I question what real benefit is there in it.

I think the democrats are being handed (by a confluence of events)
a real opportunity to live up to the promise of what I believe our
party stands for...which, to me..is NUMBER ONE...economic and social
justice....as opposed to THEM who stand for ...

'BUSINESS VALUES' and whatever feeds the haves.

I doubt the public would be 'inspired' by dems out adding
their 'I told you so' to the current mess. They might
be surprised to hear someone saying something that actually offered
them some HOPE that the future could be better, safer, happier for
them and their children.

I think it depends upon what you consider "kicking while they're down."

I think it is entirely possible to hammer on the truth -- and think it's worth the effort -- when given the opportunity. Our voices have been silenced or drowned out for so long I'd welcome some straight talk. I think this is an appropriate time to do that....way past time actually.

I think you can kick ass and be classy about it at the same time.

53. My father taught me that if I am ever being held in a close one on one
battle for my life, I should dig my nails into the back of the ear of my attacker, and jerk as hard as I could, and when it comes off, show it too him. When he sees his ear, he will howl and he WILL let go or relax his grip enough for your to run so you can save your life.

The whole point of this is . .

jerk his damn ear off, and then SHOW IT TO HIM . . .you gotta SHOW it or you do not get the effect of the effort.

This is what we should be doing right now...showing them their ears after we tear them off.

(My father still teaches street tactics to law enforcement officers. It is great fun to see a bunch of young twenty-somethings, usually 3 of them, try and take my dad to the ground in a street fight session. My dad will be 66 on Veterans Day. It normally takes 3 of them, and someone usually ends up crying (not my Dad). He teaches things like the ear, the upswing to the nose, pressure points (amazing how quick he can floor you with two fingers)and other pretty dirty tactics so that officers understand what they face in a mano y mano fight)

then you ain't got the smarts to be on the ticket in MHO. I'm looking for the group that not only has better ideas, BUT also has more HUMANE, MORE SOCIAL, and MORE INTELLIGENT delivery systems than the repubs. I loose respect quickly for anyone or any group that takes on the tactics of their enemies or the scum of the earth, in order to win. I think that is the reason I was such a staunch Edwards supporter, he didn't get creepy or mean or . . . .I wish he would shape the Democratic party because then I could be proud to be a part of it. . . . Something truly based on the generous, rational, and intelligent ideals of US.

63. They're Not Down Yet...Far From It
It's easy to get into an echo chamber here and think that all the bad news this regime has been emitting is taking down the Repugnican party. From one who is watching local races closely, I can tell you it isn't. Are candidates concerned? Sure, but they haven't had to directly account for their own votes or their own complicity with this regime...we're a long way from that.

The frustration here is how powerless Democrats are right now. With no control in any of the major branches of government, along with their complicit corporate media, the ability to hold not only this regime, but its proxies, accountable for the lying, deceptions and criminality that is now coming to light will take time and a lot more revelations.

While it's easy to get excited and giddy about all the "possibilities"...the realities still are there are 435 House seats up for election in a year and it's going to take every ounce of effort and lots of money for Democrats to regain the control vital to start restoring some accountability and sanity to this government.

Cheers...

68. I do, I do!
Got my third moneybegging call in two weeks this afternoon. Guy talked all about how w/DeLay's problems, we can take the House. Once again, I said, "I'll give money -- maybe even lots of money -- when the Democrats take all this crap Republicans are handing them on a silver platter and DO SOMETHING." Back and forth, back and forth. I finally had to tell him I had no more time for him.
