Poll question: Baltimore Terror "Threat": Erring on the side of caution, or Crying Wolf?
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 12:56 PM by goodboy
There are striking similarities between today's Baltimore tunnel terror threat and the New York subway bombing threat hoax of two weeks ago.

For example:

New York Source: In the past has provided information that turned out to be correct.

Baltimore Source: In the past has provided information that turned out to be correct.

New York Source: Passed portions of a polygraph test.

Baltimore Source: Passed portions of a polygraph test.

New York Threat Information: High Level of Specificity

Baltimore Threat Information: High Level of Specificity

Federal Officials describe the New York Subway threat information as, "not credible"

Federal Officials describe the Baltimore Tunnel threat as, "Not corroborated"

Is the threat real or not?

1. If there are any other reasons BushCo would trump up this threat here and
now, please tell me so I can update the poll.

6. fake cause the administration is incompetent
Sorry, but I don't buy in the slightest that this is some deliberate, knowing attempt to create a fake threat. I think its that the intelligence gathering community is unable or unwilling to discern a real threat from a fake one...possibly based on a better to err on the side of "caution" theory or because they're just incompetent...

9. I'll be curious to see what the Mayor of Baltimore - Martin
O'Malley has to say since he is very much at odds with the Repub Governor Ehrlich. O'Malley is very interested in homeland security issues and will be running for Gov against Ehrlich.

12. I find it interesting
That if * had paid any attention to his August briefing they'd have stopped the 9/11 hijackings.

I guess these new terror alert responders don't want to screw up like * did. I can almost hear them saying: "The White House let the first terror happen on 9/11 because they didn't respond at all, we'll not make that kind of mistake."
