If Cheney gets on the stand |

I don't think a judge would regard that as material to the case.

5. It is material. Remember the oil maps. That was one of the reasons |
|
why Cheney manipulated intel to go to war.

8. Perhaps, but you are assuming facts not in evidence |
|
Namely, we have not established that Cheney manipulated intelligence to go to war. That has certainly been alleged, but hardly proven. Now if the prosecutor wants to go in that direction and examine Cheney's involvment from that angle with a possibile indictment down the road, I'm all for it. Testimony could probably be compelled in that regard, as part of GJ discovery.
But if the judge decides he's only looking at whether certain individuals are likely to have leaked the name of a CIA agent, then the list of people at Cheney's energy orgy is not necessarily relevant.

9. We don't know if the facts are in evidence yet, but there have been |
|
some posts on the board that are speculating that the investigation has taken Fitzgerald into the Office Of Special Plans. If this is the case, this whole thing becomes a powder keg, and the Energy Task Force would be fair game. Always follow the money.

11. Heh. If the judge follows the Paula Jones precedent, he won't allow it |
|
in the real trial, anyway.
The grand jury might get to have a look, tho.

I'd be very surprised. You can't just ask anything in those sorts of situations. And that is irrelevent to the matter at hand. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

4. Would his ticker survive a grueling cross-examination? |
|
He couldn't even stand for the VP debate and he almost fell down at a recent press conferrence.
Maybe the rumours of Cheney's possible resignation are a sign that the Repubs want him gone before he takes a dirt nap while in office.
