Last one I confronted has given me a hard time all these years. I asked her how all this was working out for her. She walked off. Can dish it out in large, heaping helpings but can't take one tiny suggestion that things might not look too good for their boy and their team right now.

4. Most republicans I know

(I am from the midwest) are decent people and don't approve of
the hijinks of these. They will say...if they did a crime then
that's no better than a democrat committing a crime. Leavened with
a large dose of 'they are all politicians'.

It seems like many repubs I know have a sense of decency.

It is natural to be defensive. For example, as fun as it is to
see Delay whipped, it is also a fair question to ask "how is
routing campaign donations through the RNC such a huge break from
what happens in both parties all the time?"

I think the public is more concerned about out and out thievery
than what, as in Delay's case, looks like a politically motivated
hypertechnical prosecution.

Frist's case is much worse. This is a guy personally benefitting
(potentially) from inside knowledge and a Senate seat with power to
enrich himself. But...we don't need to worry about him...his
Republican 'buddies' who want to take him out of the running for the
Presidency will see to his demise.

Cheney.... hmmm, I think its too early to claim victory on that one.

17. I am in Nebraska and I can tell you that here, people view the recent

fiascoes as an attempt to rationalize the DeLay situation. The complete failure as to understand why there is such joy in the D camp because of the DeLay indictments is because he is getting precisely what he has dished out for years...:D

In the Grand Scheme of Politics, it should be noted that DeLay was sacrificed by the GOP; that became obvious at the small number of 'defenders' he had and how quickly R's in the House and Senate ran away from him. His fate, legally, is in the hands of the TX judicial system. His fate politically, is that he is a walking death machine, and anyone who gets near him will be viewed as an accomplice in his somewhat repulsive tactics. The exposure of him being nothing more than a snake is what is destroying him. He had the time of his life attempting to destroy all who went against him; now, he is destroyed by his own hubris...can it get any sweeter?

As for Frist. Knowing that he comes from a family that holds the law in contempt is not helping him at all. His family was fined the highest fine to date for bilking MediCare. Personally, I think those who were found guilty of bilking MediCare out of 2 billion dollars should be spending some serious time in prison, and NOT paying fines. Want to know where a lot of MediCare money went to, look at the Frist family. They are nothing more than thieves. Why would someone not come to the logical conclusion that Frist is a thief as well. He might have a "Blind Trust", but I am reasonable sure that someone was telling him what was going on in that fund.

The GOP has some fine people in it, my mother is one, but now, the members of the Republican party are seeing, from bush on down, just what the neo-cons and religious zealots have done to their party...and they are steaming mad.

But most people would read those as attacks on them and not attacks on their party. I would omit the "asking them if they're for (vice) just like (political figure)," as that just makes them A: defensive and B: aligned in their minds with (political figure) against this Democrat attack.

Rather than lump them together in your attack and hope the target distances himself, I would suggest explaining to the target why he is already distanced from the party, and why he is closer to a Democrat. Don't attack him; mocking people never makes them like you. Make him like you. Welcome him. Tell him what you can offer him. He's pro-defense? Explain that Democrats are for a strong military--one we won't waste in fruitless adventures in nation-building. And explain that every dollar we spend on Iraq is one that we can't spend on new hardware or paying off the deficit China owns. He's pro-fiscal responsibility? That's a softball, they're worse than we've ever been.
