"they'd be in shorts!"
Said of Fitzgerald, and quoted by Cafferty on CNN just a few minutes ago.
IMHO, Cafferty's easily the most entertaining presence on CNN, and Fitzgerald's definately getting Washington's individual as well as collective knickers in a twist.

1. Absolutely indispensable strategy |

For someone investigating a leak.
Can you imagine the charges of hypocrisy from the Repugs, if Fitzgerald couldn't keep his mouth shut?

2. Prosecution 101, isn't it? |

Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 03:45 PM by al bupp
Doesn't every prosecutor ever born wants to reveal as little as possible about what they actually know while simultaneously conveying the impression that they already know everything?

4. It is. And yet, I remember how Ashcroft behaved in office |

Quite a contrast isn't it?

3. Then Wolfie countered "Yeah, his a tough guy" are words to that effect. |

The banter back in forth makes this show one of the most entertaining news program on air. Keith Obermann being my favorite. I have noticed though, when one of them is missing it's just not as enjoyable, and without Jack it's just passable. Without Keith, his show is flat.

nobody can deliver his lines like KO. Allison Stewart does an alright job replacing him, but the other two he's had lately are horrible.

But did you catch the Gravitas contest on the Colbert Report? |

Stone took the cake, IMHO with his reading of a nursery rhyme like it was a TV news item.

But I wonder how much he cares about the rumors, even if they might have some merit. Arguably the rumors strengthen his hand by shaking up the suspects and motivating cooperation.

10. I'll throw it out there again. |

That grand jury might just have to go beyond the 28th. If anybody is offering info for leniency right now, that information would have to be heard by the grand jury to be considered in who will get charged with what.
Any target letters will certainly be motivation to do it. I think there is an unprecedented hornets nest of activity going on behind the scenes right now.

15. You may be right, but if it goes on... |
|
Based on the number of times Wolfie and others have mentioned the length of the investigation, that will become the story until the indictments come down.
I wonder how much simply stalling plays into the strategies of possible targets? Do you know, what's the procedure for extending the GJ? Does Fitzgerald have to worry about the politics of it?

somewhere other (in DC?) rather than where would be otherwise expected (in Chicago?).

southern district of ny..they are renowned for their silence..remember they deal with mafia ny mafia..they are used to rumours and the prosecuters there do not get ruffled by anything! and they certainly know how to play one person over the other..they are cunning..they are not L.A. prosecutors..playing to the camera..
fitz is hard core..don't worry about him..

...I need to be reminded of positive news.
We're at 11:59...and there is always the chance that these thugs will escape their crimes. They have so far.
However, I'm confident that they've met their match with Fitz.
Thanks for reminding us all that he's a seasoned pro, and he's used to dealing with thugs like these Soprano-wannabees.

...because those sitting out in the cheap seats--in Cleveland or in Walla Walls know as much as the pResident of the United States does.
Those in DC inner circles may be privy to more rumors. However, they are just as much in the dark as we are.
I love it. I think it puts the entire thug bunch in their places.
For so long, they thought they could bamboozle us all, lie to us and push on with their sick PNAC agenda--as if we are objects to be manipulated. For so long, they thought they were so damn clever.
They're weenies. They derive a sense of importance from fooling people, lying to the country and abusing power. What a bunch of third-rate thugs.
They are trailer-park scum. They know nothing about leadership, dignity, diplomacy, grace, respect, or integrity.
They are mindless cowards who got a high from fooling people.
Fitzgerald has kept this quiet, probably for a multitude of reasons. I bet he sees more clearly than any of us--how corrupt and sick these traitors are. His silence creates a level playing field--and takes away their ability to lie and distort. BushCo doesn't know what is going on--so they can't resort to their lowest-denominator tactics of attacking and lying.
I hope the silence is broken soon, but I'm glad Fitzgerald kept secret the details of this investigation.
