White House shrugs off sinking Bush poll numbers
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N18609868.htm

WASHINGTON, Oct 18 (Reuters) - With the president's job approval at its lowest ever, the White House said on Tuesday George W. Bush was not driven by public opinion polls and dismissed them as "something Washington gets caught up in."

Bush's job approval rating fell to an all-time low of 39 percent in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll published on Monday in the wake of the government's sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina, high gas prices, continued fighting in Iraq and controversy over his nomination of White House lawyer Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The president's focused on moving forward on our agenda," spokesman Scott McClellan said. "He doesn't get caught up in the weekly poll numbers."

The numbers have steadily declined in all polls -- at least one put Bush's job approval at 37 percent -- since he was sworn in for a second term in January.

2. of course poll numbers are "shrugged off"
when bush won last year, it gave him free reign to do whatever the hell he wants for the next 4 years.

as his look-alike alfred e. neuman would say:
"what, me worry?"

4. They Been Doing That for 5 Years
They follow the same narrow minded philosophy they did then. Keep repeating the same lie over and over again. And never admit you were wrong.

7. Really Mr. McClellan..How many times did he visit Gulf coast...
for photo ops that would improve his image and polls? Eight times Sir. His mama and papa were there. All his cronies were there. And he doesn't believe or check the polls.

11. Bush was so unconcerned about the plummeting poll numbers
that he staged two major Televised appearances, one followed by a terror alert and the other was so poorly planned the proof of it being staged came out before the actual frank telephone conference with the "troops".

One thing this Administration has proven over the years is they mean and do exactly the opposite of what they say:
Leave no child behind, clean skies initiative etc.

Bush and Co. are in a blind panic over the tanking of his so called popularity. Hence the fucked up tv appearances.

12. The White House forgets who they are working for. The president..
is focused on moving forward on their agenda but obviously the American people are not happy with that agenda. bush should be listening to the people yet he doesn't care what they want only what the special interests want. I wish he could be gone right now instead of three years from now.
