Do blue collar rePUKES think they're "like" wealthy people because they
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 06:50 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
fight and vote like stupid sheep on the wealthy elite's behalf? I know lots of rePUKES who seem to think that somehow the "aristocracy" rubs off on them if they become its dopey dupe.

They think "if I vote Democrat I am LIKE a welfare deadbeat and if I vote rePUKE I'm a wealthy elite"

Fucktard rubes.

1. No, they think they *are* wealthy people.
This is why I went so berserko during the "tax cuts for the top 2%" thing. These people think *they* are in the top 2%.

They think their stupid $90K combined income is some big deal. They don't realize that the George Bushes of the world are pulling down $400K PLUS all by themselves.

And guess who doesn't want to tell them the awful truth?

4. and then there's country music which tells them
"if you're poor and your roads aren't paved by the government you're better and more moral than rich people."

They're being duped in all directions.

13. They are Cargo Cult Republicans
They go through all the motions of supporting the corporate elite because they think they will hit the jackpot one day and become rich too.

18. You got it. They think they are laying the ground work for there rise to
wealth. Also they have the ability to not give a damn about anyone but themselves.

I used to work with one and she was so mean to the people under her and it didn't phase her one bit that they felt so bad. I was amazed that she could be so uncaring. It was like she was missing that part of the brain that can feel empathy for some one else.

19. It's the "I got my stack Jack" mentality / dream that's really a nightmare
These emotional cripples are driven by internal demons.

2. I think they believe that one day they will win the lottery
or some rich relative or total stranger on the street will leave them a fortune because they are "good and moral and a nice guy". When that happens they would not want to have to pay taxes on all that money.

7. Yep. They are thinking ahead to when they get rich.
In other words, they are delusional.

Actually, I think that for most the answer is a bit simpler. Every day they see people who have less than they, a lot less, and they feel like bigshots compared to those people.

Of course the truly wealthy operate behind high walls and tinted glass, and the poor, sad deluded ones never even get a glimpse of them.

So they think THEY are the top 2%.

Sad, but true.

8. I work with a lot of people that make high 6 figures and the...
... theme is often - but Republicans are for lower taxes, Democrats are for higher taxes, so I vote Republican (or some version of that).

So I have to explain to them that, no, really they're paying just as much under Bush, and in the future will have to pay a lot more b/c of Bush when we have to pay back the national debt, rebuild our infrastructure and environment, go into emergency mode on alternative fuel, recover in Iraq, make up for all the corporate welfare, etc....

It's a chore, let me tell you!

10. I find it absolutely hilarious middle class voters think they are rich
In relative terms, the wealthiest in this country are several hundred thousand times wealthier than the average "blue collar" worker both in terms of yearly compensation and ownership of assets. They are nothing compared to the operators of the largest corporations in America.

17. I find it absolutely hilarious
that anybody who works for a paycheck thinks they are rich. When your income is dependent on a salary - I don't care how big it is - you are not rich. If losing your job would hurt you - you are not rich. If not being able to work would hurt you - you are not rich.

The rich live off of income from assets they own. Not paychecks, no matter how big.

If you have to work you are not rich.

11. The TV character Archie Bunker came as close as I've ever seen to
answering your question. Archie believed that anyone who was not WASP was a lower class person.

The theme song is classic.

Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days.

The writers of that series deserve a Nobel prize for literature because they used satire to present WASPs as they really are and the majority of Repugs are WASPs.
:toast: to Archie Bunker and the writers and cast who made us look in the mirror.

14. I know one GOP/WASP/male/Kansan who is always scrabbling for $$$
Never finished college, always promoting some new get rich quick, pyramid scheme - and he really truly believes in each of them until the day he gives up on one and finds another. His other schtick is trying to insert himself as a middle man in international arms deals (he has some retired military connections). Man, he was going to sell Russian jets to the middle east, yada, yada, yada. Never happened of course! Basically he believes not only that he can get something for nothing, but that he will become a multimillionaire, and THEN! ! ! ! you see he will benefit from the neocon policies! Meanwhile he drives an old pickup truck with his Bush/Cheney stickers!
Fool!

Maybe one of 100 people get rich, and even lower for people with lower IQs which is pretty clear they suffer with. Its crazy .

I have no problem with rich people. Just greedy irresponsible rich people who think they shouldnt have to pay their fair share and contribute to society,
