Idiot who shot Sikh (thought he was Arab) sentenced to death
Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Sikh
Thu Oct 9, 7:28 PM ET Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

MESA, Ariz. - A man was sentenced to death Thursday for killing an Indian immigrant during a shooting rampage four days after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Frank Silva Roque was convicted of murder last week in the death of gas station owner Balbir Singh Sodhi.

Prosecutors said Roque targeted Sodhi because he thought he was an Arab. Sodhi wore a turban and beard as part of his Sikh faith.

After Sodhi's shooting, Roque shot at another gas station where the clerk was a man of Lebanese descent, and shot at the home of an Afghan family, authorities said. They were not injured.

1. Yet Another "Law-Abiding, Responsible" Gun Owner
The kind that the pro-gunners keep telling us we don't have to worry about.

6. I hate to say this..
If there is one thing (and I belive there is only one thing) I give Bush props on it was going out of his way to try and calm people down off the anti-muslim hysteria. I remember just how thick it was around here and he didn't need to do that. He could have rounded every last one of them up and riled up lynch mobs to burn mosques and no one would have said boo except all 6% of us idiotarians who still couldn't stand Bush, WTC or no WTC.

12. Disagree with your take on things
He actually stirred up anti-Muslim sentiment by calling the terror war a "crusade" and by authorizing his bulldog Ashcroft to round up and detain thousands of Muslims, mostly males, all over the country, for any reason or no reason at all.

And now he is attacking and bombing Muslim countries when terrorism is not an act of of war by a sovereign state but a political act by groups of people not necessarily connected to one state.

7. I am against the death penalty in ALL instances
Including this one. Every time we as a society condone and execute an individual we are helping to perpetuate the violence in the world. Odd that when this man kills another man by "mistake" we call him an idiot. Yet when we as a society have innocent people on death row we as a society yawn.

8. Hey I don't condone it!
I am against the death penalty. I am just pointing out how idiotic this man was to kill a Sikh, who he thought was an Arab because of a turban. He deserved to stay in jail the rest of his life as far as I am concerned! But not death.

10. I agree
The fundamental ethical and moral message that is sent by a government that can murder its own citizens simply cannot be reconciled.

Particularly when it can murder innocent citizens.

Locking murderers like this away for life and letting them stew over their decisions for a few decades is a preferable alternative.

11. disagree with you
we are not condoning violence when we execute a killer. we are putting a value on the life that was lost.
