3. I Don't TRUST Powell... But If He Is REALLY Outing

Cheney, it will almost a "first" for him! He may have not totally agreed with the WH stance, and he may not have liked to carry water for them... BUT he has plenty of his own ghosts to deal with!

But I bet BushCo had promised him a greater lead in the invasion if he did it. Then they ignored him.

I also think that Powell likes Bush, and believes that Bush is being manipulated by Cheney and Rove. Powell wanted to be the one manipulating him, to bring out what he believes is Bush's good side. But Cheney, Bush, Rumsfield and Rove played Powell. I think Powell blames Cheney instead of Bush, not willing to admit he was fooled by a sniveling sociopathic lying brat. So he goes after Cheney.

8. I hate to have to keep telling people this, but so many have

bought into a reputation that is essentially a media creation. Powell comes across well on TV. In other words, he is a good spokesmodel. But Powell was the architect of the My Lai cover-up. He has always been a careerist and an opportunist. His only concern is to make himself look good and to advance his career and that of his son.

He and his wife claimed they were fooled by the bad information, and Powell was angry that his integrity had been compromised. He smiled as he said it was a black mark on his reputation, and he felt bad about it.

No concern for 100K innocent people killed. Just for his reputation.

In addition, we know he was lying. He knew the evidence was false. We were debunking it here on DU right after the speech. Some of our posters were pulling up Federal documents proving that our own government had already debunked many of the "roving lab" charges.

Powell is so used to lying for his bosses that to him "integrity" means convincing people you are being honest, not actually being honest. I doubt he understands the difference.

It is inaccurate, sadly. Anyone who is wiser on this matter than I want to take a look at this and add your .02 worth? I am uncertain what to believe at this point with all of the various speculations flying.

I got the same e-mail. It was purportedly from a "Wall St. source." It's bunk. Here's the key.

The Memo was faxed to Powell on AF One the day he and Bush & Co left for Africa. Cheney wasn't on the trip - or on Air Force One with Colin Powell and the President. So the entire thesis, which includes this:

during the meeting, powell recounted to the senator that he had traveled on air force one with bush and cheney, and brought to their attention a classified memorandum about the issue of whether there was indeed a transaction inolving niger and yellow cake uranium. the document included ambassador joe wilson's involvement and identified his wife, valerie plame, as a covert agent. the memorandum further stated that this information was secret. powell told mccain that he showed that memo only to two people--president and vice president. according to powell, cheney fixated on the wilson/plame connection, and plame's status.

Also, Andrea Mitchell says colin powell testified he showed the memo to Ari Fleischer.

NOT mention Plame. So I assumed from that that it said Wilson.
