Eight indictments have already been prepared, with possibility of ten more

This courtasy of clarabell (a bran new member, long time lurker) who can't post yet.

From: Onegoodmovie Blog.

Plamegate coming to conclusion. The investigation has focused mostly closely on Vice President Cheney and his staff, as well as US Ambassador to the UN (and former undersecretary of state for arms control) John Bolton and his staff. We are told that eight indictments have already prepared, with the possibility of another ten. These indictments include senior white house staff, most notably Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff Scooter Libby, Fred Flights (special assistant to John Bolton), and--very surprisingly--national security adviser Steve Hadley. apparently, Libby and Hadley have both been told by their lawyers to expect indictments. the indictment of senior bush political advisor Karl Rove seems highly probable.

Powell Outs Cheney?

Snip>>
Powell testified about this exchange in great length to the grand jury investigating the plame case. according to sources close to the case, Powell appeared convinced that the vice president played a focal role in disclosing plame's undercover status.

1. Powell outs Cheney?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 08:57 PM by nradisic
Holy Shit! Payback is a bitch. Powell has really been rocked by the fact that he now knows that he was bamboozled into making that presentation to the UN Security Council about WMD's, and now he knows he was suckered...It was all a lie and Plame gate gave him a shot at the man who pushed it all along.....Lucifer himself-The Dickster!

3. I Don't TRUST Powell... But If He Is REALLY Outing
Cheney, it will almost a "first" for him! He may have not totally agreed with the WH stance, and he may not have liked to carry water for them... BUT he has plenty of his own ghosts to deal with!

My respect for him dimmed long long ago! More power to him thought, they say he's been raving mad lately! Perhaps a little CYA if you ask me.

13. I agree with that. Powell knew he was lying before the UN
But I bet BushCo had promised him a greater lead in the invasion if he did it. Then they ignored him.

I also think that Powell likes Bush, and believes that Bush is being manipulated by Cheney and Rove. Powell wanted to be the one manipulating him, to bring out what he believes is Bush's good side. But Cheney, Bush, Rumsfield and Rove played Powell. I think Powell blames Cheney instead of Bush, not willing to admit he was fooled by a sniveling sociopathic lying brat. So he goes after Cheney.

8. I hate to have to keep telling people this, but so many have
bought into a reputation that is essentially a media creation. Powell comes across well on TV. In other words, he is a good spokesmodel. But Powell was the architect of the My Lai cover-up. He has always been a careerist and an opportunist. His only concern is to make himself look good and to advance his career and that of his son.

14. Yep. Did you see the Barbara Walters interview?
He and his wife claimed they were fooled by the bad information, and Powell was angry that his integrity had been compromised. He smiled as he said it was a black mark on his reputation, and he felt bad about it.

No concern for 100K innocent people killed. Just for his reputation.

In addition, we know he was lying. He knew the evidence was false. We were debunking it here on DU right after the speech. Some of our posters were pulling up Federal documents proving that our own government had already debunked many of the "roving lab" charges.

Powell is so used to lying for his bosses that to him "integrity" means convincing people you are being honest, not actually being honest. I doubt he understands the difference.

11. Powell reminds me of that guy in "A Few Good Men"
The one who shot himself after going along with Nicholson for so long.

4. So if this is true, Powell told what he knew, which was everything,
and voila. Perfectly gooked goose.

Can't see him as W's veep after that, though.

6. According to one of the responses to this blog entry...
It is inaccurate, sadly. Anyone who is wiser on this matter than I want to take a look at this and add your .02 worth? I am uncertain what to believe at this point with all of the various speculations flying.

I got the same e-mail. It was purportedly from a "Wall St. source." It's bunk. Here's the key.

The Memo was faxed to Powell on AF One the day he and Bush & Co left for Africa. Cheney wasn't on the trip - or on Air Force One with Colin Powell and the President. So the entire thesis, which includes this:

during the meeting, powell recounted to the senator that he had traveled on air force one with bush and cheney, and brought to their attention a classified memorandum about the issue of whether there was indeed a transaction inolving niger and yellow cake uranium. the document included ambassador joe wilson's involvement and identified his wife, valerie plame, as a covert agent. the memorandum further stated that this information was secret. powell told mccain that he showed that memo only to two people--president and vice president. according to powell, cheney fixated on the wilson/plame connection, and plame's status.
is wrong.

Also, Andrea Mitchell says colin powell testified he showed the memo to Ari Fleischer.

9. Also Powell said on Larry King the other night that his memo did
NOT mention Plame. So I assumed from that that it said Wilson.

7. Well I guess it is a start. According to this blogger Cheney is
working out a plea deal.

snip>
Most critically, a plea bargain process has evidently been opened with Vice President Cheney's lawyer. that does not mean that an indictment is coming. but i've some critical background around the issue.
snip>

I cannot tell you how disappointed I will be if * doesn't go down with Cheney. I am disappointed I don't see Rice's name on the list.

Looks like Mc Cain is gonna take Cheney's spot if this is correct.
