i am still here on isla mujeres..and we still have electricity off and on...already raining and high winds. i tried to get off the island last night..but could not get on the ferry..and they are no longer running today. my daughter called to say she heard on the weather channel that all of isla mujeres had been evacuated except officials, but not true...many still here..they have set up schools for shelters here, but i think i am best to stay where i am..about mid island. my neighbors have a two story house, so i will move to their house tonight..at present, wilma is expected to enter at playa del carmen..and move along the coast to cancun...with much devistation, i am sure. i will keep you posted as to how it is down here for as long as the electricity holds.

Stay safe. If you don't mind, I will include you in my prayers. As a Katrina survivor, I can imagine what you are going through now and what may occur later.
(If you have a life vest, keep it with your supplies. )

11. Good luck, have a life vest handy ---- Anything you think you can float on |

if it comes to it....Wilma is headed my way after you, but at least I am on dry land. I know Isla Mujeres/Cancun/Playa very well, if it come right on Playa Del Carmen's beach I am going to be very sad, it is by far my favorite spot there, restaurants on the beach...etc. how very sad.
Good luck, don't take anything for granted, be over prepared. I am putting my shutters up tonight, and may try to head out of town tomorrow.
I rode out Katrina as a categorie one and did NOT like it at all.

We spent three weeks in Playa two years ago. Our favorite trip was to Isla Mujeres. After we missed the ferry we hired a small boat to take us to the island for snorkeling and had an absolute ball with our capitan and his family. What an amazing time. The trip back took us a little longer, with some zigging and zagging!
Hoping for the best! We hope to go again in April, so I'll be in touch with you, maybe we can have a ron punch together.

16. All those Playa del Carmen 1&2 story beachfront bldgs. |

Hate to think of a hurricane making a direct hit there.Hope the shopkeepers can move their goods to higher grounds - Very little elevation for the town. I wanted to visit your Isla but didn't get that far north. Hope you are stocked up on a lot of potable water. How far off of Cancun are you? Are there many expats there? Stay safe and let us know what happens.

I remember Playa and Cozumel fondly. (We were in Playa when there was nothing on the beach and the only thing in town was a small army facility.)
I hope you stay safe.
