Would Someone Fucking Tell Me Why We Cannot Bust Up The
Corporate Media if we regain control of the House, Senate & WhiteHouse?

For Christ's sake, we have busted up conglomerates before such as AT&T & they were not even doing damage to the county.

The Media is doing damage to the country.

Should or should they not be broken up and the media only be allowed to be Totally Independent???????

3. The press takes part of the blame for all this.
There will be accountability hopefully.

is instill a national healthcare plan.

I'm a freelance writer who spent years writing for corporate newspapers before I got out. I was with Gannett and they're the worst.

I saw first hand the damage it did internally after they bought the paper (The Arizona Republic)and since then, I've been seeing the damage it's done externally.

Read this link to see how they manipulate the system. Fuckers.

8. I don't think they need to be broken up
But a serious effort to criminalize perjury qua news would be good. Maybe providing civil penalties for false news stories would halt some of the propaganda.

10. Interesting ideas. I wonder if the civil penalty thing is not ....
a real option now, even without new legislation.

Example: John Doe,et al., Plaintiffs v. Judith Miller, defendant. Seems it would be at least theoretically possible for Iraq war victims ( eg. wounded American soldiers) to bring suit against Miller and others for knowingly , or negligently, creating a situation ( war) whereby the palintiffs were injured materially.

9. Yeah for sure
That mess we got now is from all the deregulation and relaxing of market ownership rules that went on years ago. Served us poorly ever since.

11. I like your thinking.
I think that busting them up is a great first step. Yet even when this happens, the fact remains that only about 100 corporations can afford to buy advertisements. Hence, even if there are more stations that are in theory independent, they still depend upon those dollars. So there is still a limited number of points of view that can afford to be expressed. I guess we can't confront that until taking the important first step that you are advocating. I think that democracy depends on this happening.

12. Regain the media A MUST and...

As we may start to see the end of BushCo there is still a potent clique, or better called "a rich power octopus," still behind the scenes that has to be revealed and countered.

With even more power and wealth gained under Chimp and Dick rule, they will hold ground where they can and slink into the shadows to plan for long-term menacing of the world where needed. We have to be aware and ready for them.
