1. There are WHITE PEOPLE in South Florida |
|
Rich White People. So of course they're mobilizing and will be ready. Unless of course they bring in Brownie. He's still a "consultant" ya know.

3. To play Devil's Advocate....they probably will. |
|
1. The state has a bush governor. They don't want him to look bad.
2. After Katrina, they have no political room for error.
3. After last year, the local communities are extremely prepared. This will make FEMA's job easier. I'm in West Palm Beach, and they've already ordered mandatory evacuations in a lot of counties (of trailer parks and low lying areas). They've already closed the schools and set up shelters. Many say that we're overreacting down here, but better safe than sorry.
....
They're determined not to get caught with their pants down this time. They're going to overdue it now.

Why does it matter if people think FEMA will be prepared for Wilma?
At this point, they're either prepared or they aren't. People voting on the website isn't going to change that.
Sometimes I wonder who gets paid to come up with the crap that fills 24 hour news organizations' time.

8. I saw Jeb Bush the other day... |
|
... and he made it very clear that disaster relief should come from the local level.
When he said it, it sounded as if he did not trust the government to get-r-done. I almost sensed a family feud.

9. Heard them say on my TV |
|
They have ice stockpiled. Unlike, New Orleans when Brownie decided that they didn't need ice. You know for "cooling their beer and cokes" Which, by the way, I thought was the absolute stupidest thing ever said about the Katrina victims.
