There is no "Real reason" we're in Iraq.
That's why the Bush people have no plan for getting out.

1. Saddam will be laughing at us from his grave.... the military
enforcement of the laws of capitalism will take you down a road you'd rather not travel.

3. But the oil is not for us. Don't forget that.
It's for China and India. We're just making sure it is American companies that will profit from it.

6. real reason for the war
I will always remember Wolfowitz saying they choose WMD's because it's the only thing "they could all agree on."

OK, guys, we want to invade Iraq. What do we tell everybody about why we're doing it?

"Saddam tried to kill my daddy"

Saddam supports the 9/11 terrorists.

Iraq will rain nukes down on the US in 45 minutes.

We need to pour taxpayer money into the military industrial complex, so I can get a 3000% return on my stocks.

Winning the war will make a great photo op on an aircraft carrier.

He gassed his own people. (I always loved that. How about Bush murdering his own people on death row when he was gov of Texas? He set records and knowingly put a few people to death that were innocent, or had crappy unfair trials at the least)

..................and so on.........

It's fundamentally absurd to send troops into harms way for a reason you "all had to agree on". What a putrid reason to waste all these patriotic young people that signed up to serve their country!

7. It's one of those things that got started and no one knew why
I think it really was left over from the Gulf War. "We really should have gone in and finished Sadaam while we had the chance.." No one in the in-group had the balls to stand up and say there was no reason to go to war.
(Of course, I think Dean was the only Democrat who did, and I can't swear that he did at this point)

AS far as an oil grab goes, I'm pretty sure it's been a net loss in oil since the war started.
