Frank Rich tells us why they went after Wilson but not why we went to war?

This is only my opinion of Rich's article - not the opinion of Frank Rich in his article
===================================================================

Frank Rich gives a thorough explanation of the "why" Rove and Libby went after Wilson and his wife. He threatened to expose their reasons for going to war. But Rich does not tell us "why" we went to war. The real reason.

George Bush Jr had stated before he was ever nominated by his Party that he would go after Saddam. He has shown signs of being a megalomaniac for many years. Texas was not big enough for him. Signing death warrants with just a glance was just enough to whet his appetite. He wanted to go down in history. He had stated that the best way to attain "greatness" was to take our country to war. He had actually stated that in one form or another.

But, because of his megalomania, he believed that "war" was a choice of the Commander in Chief. It was not something of necessity. It was something that was the prerogative of the executive. And his Party and many in the opposing Party went along with his misguided megalomania. And now we are paying the price.

Frank Rich exposed very well the reasons of Rove and Libby but he never gave the reasons for Bush wanting to go to war in the first place. It was not just for the election in 2004. It was for the misguided glory of a mentally ill President.

3. This is deeply disturbing
It's obvious that Bush* wanted to go to war with Iraq for a number of reasons: "they tried to kill my Daddy", Daddy whimped out and now I'll finish the job", Look at me, I'm better than Daddy.

And then there were the PNAC reasons: Pax Americana, a New World Order...etc.,

But what's so disturbing is the cavelier attitude that Bush* took to war. It was a game, a technique, a political tool to him. Neither Dubya nor his advisors take war seriously. It's a sport. Just like gladiators were a sport to Roman noblemen, so is was a sport to America's new ruling class.

This is disturbing.

Deeply disturbing.

their whore reporter minions calling it "the "game" in Iraq, the way the "game" is played in politics, everyone leaks classified ingo it's part of the 'game.'"

Every time I hear that I wonder when the "game" is going to be finished for these people. We are sick of their evil games. Sick of "business as usual," games for the sake of making sure only one team wins.

5. And Bush is their quarterback...
They have to protect him if they are going to score a touchdown (or win the next election) They do look at it like a game. Much of this is promoted in right-wing talk radio, which is always talking about "our side", in a competitve game style.

8. Psychotic reaction
I agree w/ kentuck. There IS no logical reason for Iraq. The reason is that the idiot president is actually a two-bit despot.
He is a psychotic individual and his reaction to his upcoming overthrow should be quite interesting to watch.
