CSPAN WJ host, Pedro: What do you think? |
|
Pedro is my favorite host of WJ. And it's not because he's cute. So stop saying that. }(
Of all the hosts, Pedro comes across as the most liberal and the most fair in the way he handles callers and guests.
I used to luv Steve Scully. But he appears to be tilting more to the right these days. Argh! Say it ain't so!
Who is your favorite Washington Journal host?

I wouldn't mind though. }( But seriously. He has come a long way since he became a regular host about a year ago. I didn't know what to think about him. I must add though. The ease and comfort that he has developed does make him appear much more attractive to me.

Agree about Susan though. She's very nice and even-handed.

4. I like Pedro, too, because he is nice to callers, even when he |
|
has to cut them off. He also asks some good questions about why callers say something, as if he's interested in finding out, not as if he wants to play "gotcha."

He really puts out a lot of the more cutting edge topics and handles the more difficult discussions. I've always enjoyed watching him.
The other hosts are "RW suits" to me...while they attempt to be "fair and balanced", I constantly can see Steve and Peter skewing right with the stories...and to let the bigots and wingnuts ramble on.
Then there's Connie...who I enjoy...as she, like Pedro, puts in a lot of work and really does an excellent job in keeping things moving and on even-keel.
Lastly, but not leastly...Mr. C-Span, Brian Lamb. I used to think he was the most right wing jerk on the tube (this goes back to the 80's), but he's a man of a lot of a lot of opinions and tastes and he's a definite acquired taste.

9. Pedro and then Susan, Connie. |
|
Used to think Brian was the fairest person, and admired him. Since Bush, I've changed my mind. I have a hard time watching him because he has an "edge" and seems harsh, now.

10. Pedro definitely the best. |
|
Much improved since he stopped cutting off people like the others.
Kudos to Lamm for starting the network, but, he really is a right-wing nut, who is just more educated and a little nuanced. He's still a right-wing nut.

There's the button at the top to email the string to a friend...it works very nicely.
BTW...I just sent one to the WJ@cspan.org...hope that gets to him.

15. BTW...here's what I wrote... |
|
Good morning, you have a lot of Washington Journal viewers on the Democratic Underground and there was a discussion this morning about the fine job your hosts do in dealing with such controversial topics.
Please past this along to Pedro and others...please let them know we appreciate their hard work and the network's committment to being an open forum and window to our government.
Cheers

16. Susan is a Repub....Steve is a right-winger... |
|
Pedro is a handsome shell of a fellow. :) Paul is the most fair of all the C-SPAN hosts. Brian worked for Nixon. Peter is a rabid right-winger and he doesn't give a damn who knows it.

Hands down, he is the best. He is one of the best interviewers I have seen because he just asks questions that are strait forward and not baiting.

He lets right-wing callers go on and on, never really questioning them, while at the same time asking really penetrating questions of people on the left. Limiting your questioning skills only to those who don't agree with you sounds sorta like Judy Woodruff on the Presidential debate the other night. He does great interviews on books of right-wingers, I give him that.
And his scheduling of guests: YUKKO. A Dem who is outspoken is never given a full slot, a Dem who is not articulate or is a "half-way" person on an issue gets just half a slot, and then placed against an interruptor and talker-over who is never admonished to shut up and give the other person a chance to answer.
He's just more subtle about his discrimination against the left.

Anyhow, Pedro has worked his way into an easy going style. I think he's found his groove. A few questions here and there. I just wish I could wake up early enought to catch the program live.
