5. I had an uncle named Fitzsimmons. The approved term... |
|
of endearment( for intimates only) was "Fittie". Ouside of the *inner* circle, 'Fitz' was OK.

6. If you meet him, please address him as Mr. Fitzgerald. |
|
Than, it hardly matters what we call him on these forums.
I don't think the guy visits here too often anyway.
Go, Fitz! Go!

9. I suspect he will if he doesn't already. |

Becoming a pop icon of the 2005 year book and the spirit of Fitzmas has got to be a bit hard on a guy who doesn't crave publicity.

I also doubt many people here would do that.
Is that better?
Are you poking fun at all the "oh no Fitzmas is so disrespectful" threads? I hope so! LOL!

I only use Fitz because Fitzgerald takes up too many precious characters on the subject lines. I would NEVER call him Fitz. Mister Fitzgerald sounds appropriate.

All men named Fitzgerald or Fitzpatrick or Fitzwhatever must be referred to as Fitz. It's in the constitution, I think.

15. You know, I don't want to get off on a rant |
|
But it's amazing to me how much personal emotion DUers invest in "Fitz." It's like he's everybody's pal. Federal prosecutors, while generally very intelligent people, are not necessarily fun to spend time with. They're not too different from trained sharks. I often feel we're being overly familiar toward someone we really know next to nothing about, beyond the obvious hard-working high-achiever qualities he has shown. I'd certainly buy him a beer, but I don't think I'd slap him on the back and call him "Fitzy."
I think one very significant thing we can tell about him, is that he wants to be as professional as possible. (And right now, I'd like to replay selected scenes of Ken Starr giving interviews to reporters for every damned republican I know.) He doesn't showboat, he doesn't leak, he doesn't telegraph his punches. Who really knows what he's like in person? I suspect he's fairly aloof toward would-be fans, but I'm just talking out of my ass. From the way he runs his investigation, I'd say he doesn't care a whit for anyone cheering him on. His job is easier if people don't attach too much hysteria to the proceedings. He knows he's handling live wires and explosive charges, and he doesn't need any extra headache right now.
And god speed, Mr. Fitzgerald.

22. No, I heard his roommate say |
|
(from somewhere) he was anything but neat the way he kept his things. They were scattered everywhere. And he was a practical joker. That may not address how he would treat his fans with his notoriety now, but I think he's probably the opposite of being aloof. For whatever that's worth.

just to punish us for calling him "Fitz." And he's especially peeved at all the dyslexic DUers who insisted on typing it as "Fritz."
