That much nepotism and cronyism is even too blatant for most of the Republicans.

Roberts, whatever he may turn out to be, had a resume that was packed to the gills with distinctions (Harvard Law magna, Law Review, Supreme Court clerk, 20-some cases argued before the Supremes). Those are the sort of qualifications one expects to see a SCOTUS nominee toting. Miers was just another corporate lawyer who brown-nosed her way into a WH job. I never thought for a second she would make it and was doubly convinced when Specter and Leahy insisted on a do-over on the questionnaire.

hardened shell to withstand all the criticism. Everything about her reminded me of my classmates when I was in HS back in the late 50's/60's. The hair style, the bit of a backward personality. I really think she cried herself to sleep the past week or so, and finally told Shrub she just couldn't take it!

7. When Dobson would be called to testify. |

I knew there was NO WAY the WH would allow that. Allow a week to convince Specter not to do it, and he wouldn't agree, and then you have a withdrawal.

It was embarrassing - here was a grown woman, an adult if you, gushing gibberish to her boss. That's when I knew. Nobody that determined to kiss the bosses ass was going survive the process.
