And I don't mean figuratively, he said "he's a phoney" and he said it again.

He also said he's walking around on that ranch of his with that big ol' belt buckle. (When repeating it, he credited his wife with having come up with the line.)

He slagged John Ashcroft by name. Very pointedly and specifically

I think he handled himself well and took some pretty hard questions. He certainly should be more careful with offhand figures of speech, such as "98% of primary healthcare is done by nurses". Ooops. The point is obvious that much of the actual contact, debriefing and caregiving is done by nurses, but once one starts slinging numbers like that it leaves one open to having ones words dismissed.

...it doesnt look like Edwards is going to go anywhere.

But I have noticed in other appearances that Ive seen on C-Span that he is not hestitant at all at going after Bush in some strong terms.

Edwards is not intimidated one bit by the "respect The President"" aura that they are trying to create around Bush.

4. Don't confirm our polling numbers here with the general public

If you believe the general polls, Lieberman owns it, followed by Gephardt and Kerry, Kucinich doesn't exist, and Dean in the middle of the pack essentially tied with Edwards. What does this show you?

If you believe our polls here, Dean and Kucinich are gods, Kerry's a presence and no one else exists.

Edwards is making his move now, after having laid back. Will this work? I don't know, but DAMN he's good in person. He got sandbagged with some pretty serious stuff here, and he didn't shy away from much.

I'll be back to tend my thread in a couple of hours, but I have to go work for a few hours. Give him a listen, people; he has the best chance of winning.

He also has the second most money and has had to put up with the most(really only) GOP front group money spent against him(They've put up billboards in Iowa, and will soon in New Hampshire if they haven't already)

I just don't believe that people who want to see Bush defeated and look at how that can happen aren't going to get behind him

Leiberman is still polling number 1 and his campaign is considered to be falling apart

Edwards can win key primaries, starting with South Carolina, including big southern super tuesday primaries such as Texas and Georgia, and a week before that Virginia and Tenesee

I believe that these townhall meetings are going to give him a jump in New Hampshire, and that he'll be able to get a third or a close fourth there, above Leiberman with 12 - 17 percent

I really expect it to be a Gephardt/Dean and Kerry/Dean thing in the early primarys..Iowa and NH.

Edwards, if hes going to break out, has to win the first southern primary, which I think is South Carolina.

New strategizing.
Because of the fact that the primaries are being done MUCH differently this year, Iowa and NH will have a minimal impact on the winning candidate for those 2 states. The other primaries are pushed up right against the Iowa / NH primaries, so it will be a much bigger picture emerging. Edwards and Graham are pushing hard in other states, and letting NH and Iowa go, pretty much.
You'll see that NH/Iowa primaries will not be the BFD as they have in the past because of the new dates on the other state primaries. That is what Edwards and Graham are banking on.
If anyone is looking at NH and Iowa for what will come down the road for the candidates, they need to rethink and do some research on how the state primaries have changed this year.

7. It doesn't matter if Edwards is the prez candidate or not

...this time around. He is attacking Bush, as Bush SHOULD BE attacked, because he is a fraud, an awol chickenhawk liar, and Edwards is helping the cause of democracy to hammer this home to the American people.

Even though I may not support Edwards, I appreciate and RESPECT him for speaking up. he will do more to earn a nomination by doing these things than by sitting on his hands doing nothing.

I know the repukes think Edwards is a threat to them...if not this time, in the future, because I heard them go on about how young he is, and they did a whole series, over days, on different programs on CNN, for example, attacking trial lawyers and then trying to link their lies to Edwards.

You saw someone there willing to take it and dish it out.

Entertain the proposition some more.

He is the only one--along with Kucinich--who has a ghost of chance who's speaking out against the character and essence of this monarchic gangster. He also is very careful to "speak sense"; namely that everything has to be paid for and still balance the budget. He misspoke by saying "while also paying down the deficit"; obviously he meant the debt.

This is a man with broad appeal and a serious willingness to do the right thing. Regardless of any differences one has with him, I defy anyone to tell me he's duplicitous or of interested motives. This is a person who truly cares.

Oh...and he can win.

At the moment, the only ones I think who can win are Kerry, Dean and Edwards. Should Junior really take on water, Kucinich might actually be possible in a 1976 kind of way, and that's not too farfetched. For the moment though, Edwards is the most formidable.

It was an interesting evening. As they always do on C-Span, some of the best stuff is after the main event is over. An elderly woman came up to him and said, " You have the two "c's" that it takes to win this....common sense and charisma."

My husband doesn't do DU, so he doesn't know all the in-fighting, etc. He said, "Man, Edwards is the most left of anyone I've heard on one of these shows...do the people on your DU like him?" I said, "Nope...Iraq...most of the DU'ers don't care for him"

I could vote for him, but, for now, it's Kucinich. The Iraq issue really does bother me. We worked so hard to keep out of Iraq, that it is really difficult for me to support a candidate that didn't see what has happened there on the horizon. He's smart, so he shoulda known. I do like him, though; I think, better than Dean or Kerry. I like his background.
