How many of you saw some "let's scare the shit out of you over Halloween"

with some bullshit about how your children are in danger?

Here in Tucson, each network had "Halloween is fun, but can your children be in danger." KGUN had a special on sex offenders. KVOA had dangerous candy. Fox 11 was in full-on "you're all going to die" rant. Fucking ghouls.

We have to go through this every year. KGUN of course put on a parent saying "I'm really scared for my children."

Did you run into the media scaring the shit out of your area too?

1. Oh, yeah they did

Broadcast a story about a group of parents who were angry because Halloween got canceled at their school (no costumes, no joy, etc.).

The talking heads spun it like "Careful, careful. Be sure to check the website to find out if registered sex offenders are nearby. RSOs are 'supposed' to turn out their porch lights. Halloween is fun but beware of the dangers. Yada yada."

2. My kids don't even bother going out anymore...

Two years ago my son figured "why walk around for an hour to get bunch of candy I doesn't even like?" ... just him buy a bag of something he likes, and he'll just stay home and watch TV (suits me fine).

My daughter, however, is another matter (got sick on Halloween two years running --- NOT a happy camper).
