Brian Williams is playing right into the Misadministration's ugly hands. He led off tonight's report with the Fearsome Bird Flu which will soon slay us all (unless the government pumps billions into Rummy's flu vaccine company.)
Now we have bird flu/terra/bird flu/terra/bird flu to scare the bejeezus out of us, conveniently distracting from Treasongate and the lies that deceived Congress into voting for the war resolution.
Can't anybody in the mainstream media see through these transparently obvious dodges by * to distract us from his very real legal issues?

CBS led with the story about the Senate going into closed session. Their coverage seemed pretty good; fair and evenhanded for the most part. I tend to think CBS (maybe correctly, maybe not) is the most truly "fair and balanced" of the networks.

I'm just sad because Brian seemed to wake up from his zombie state after Katrina. But now he's been forced back to the party line again.

8. So far, about 60 people have died from the bird flu. That's |
|
fewer than those who died from infected hang nails. And don't worry, since Evolution isn't true, the virus won't be able to evolve into the human strain. Why worry?
If you will notice, Bush's speech wording about the bird flu was almost verbatim of the speech he and Condi gave about the nuclear smoking gun. The bird flu is coming! The bird flu is coming! God, what else can the American people find to get scared of? We are behaving as though we were field mice in a world of mean house cats.

10. Thanks. I made up the stats on hang nails. But, my point was |
|
that anything that only killed 60 people worldwide in four years isn't much of a menace. The pandemic is possible. But, so are many other things equally as disastrous and more probable. (A nuclear cruise missile fired at close range from the deck of a tramp freighter off the coast of the U.S. or several at once.)

(for the cartoon) the cats and mouse thing. But yes,I agree it is a ridiculous out of proportion blowup to distract us. Many, many things are more of a threat than this. Even the poss. of a terrorist attack is higher, I would say.
